Moral Value of Tanjong Rhu

There are a few moral values that I have learnt from the short story
entitled Tanjung Rhu. Firstly, We must ............................. the elders. The
proof is when Ying was arguing over some joss sticks with ....................
and Mr Li was mad when Ying whisperd to him that "She just won't hurry,
Papa. She always has to do just what she wants!' Because of that he
thought that children this day have no respect for the elders.

APPRECIATING
We have to appreciate our parents .Just like Mr Li he doesn't take his time
listening to his mother's stories about his childhood memories but then
when his mother is about to die he wanted to ask many question about
his past.

CARING
We must care about our parents. The proof is when Mr Li came home from
work and brought a binocular for his mother,so that he hope that his
mother can see far and clear.

LOVING
We must love our parents with our whole heart. Just like Mr Li love his
mother so much that he became unmanageable after his mother passed
away.

1) Although we live in modern world, we must not forget our traditional values
2) We must learn to appreciate people while we can
3) Money cannot buy everything
4) Learn to respect and tolerate each other
5) We should consider and accept changes in our lives and progress with the time
6) We should always voice out our feelings especially if we want to express feelings of love for a
family member especially an old parent.

We must love and appreciate our family members while they are still
