Chapter 1 Welcome

Chapter 1:
Welcome
Thank you for choosing to use Linksys EasyLink Advisor,
the one place to manage your network. From your
Windows Vista or XP computer, you can use this program
to add computers or other devices to your network,
secure your wireless network, and automatically update
Linksys products with the latest firmware. Plus, Linksys
EasyLink Advisor monitors your network and helps you
troubleshoot if any networking problems occur.

Welcome Menu Options

After Linksys EasyLink Advisor is installed by the Linksys Network Map
Setup Wizard, the Welcome screen automatically appears.
To learn more about the network map and Linksys EasyLink
Advisor, proceed to “Chapter 2: Use”.

Welcome

There are four options:

Add Computers and Devices  Click this link to add
more computers, which can be wired or wireless, to your
network. The Add Device wizard automatically runs.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Go Wireless  Click this link to set up a wireless connection
between your computer, which is running Linksys
EasyLink Advisor, and the Router. The Go Wireless wizard
automatically runs. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Learn More  Click this link to visit the Help Center screen,
which offers a variety of support resources.
Done  Click this button to exit the Welcome screen and
view the network map of Linksys EasyLink Advisor.

Chapter 2 Use

Chapter 2: Use
How to Access Linksys EasyLink Advisor
Linksys EasyLink Advisor launches automatically after it
has been installed by the Linksys Setup Wizard. If you exit
the program, double-click its desktop or taskbar icon to
re‑start the program.

Network Map (List View)

To update the on-screen information, click Refresh.

To minimize the Linksys EasyLink Advisor screen, click the
minimize button in the upper right-hand corner. To exit
Taskbar Icon Linksys EasyLink Advisor, click the close button .

Network Map Linksys Router

The Router is at the center of your network map. When
The network map shows your network devices, the name

device name, options appear. (Not all options appear for
all device types.)

Device Detail

To print the details, click Print. To exit the Device Detail

screen, click Close.

Advanced Settings
Device Menu
Your computer’s default web browser launches, and the
login screen to the Router’s web-based utility appears.
(Advanced users can use this utility to configure the Details
advanced features of the Router.) Additional information appears.
Enter the User name and Password. (To use the default
settings, enter admin in both the User name and Password
fields.) Then click OK.
For more information, refer to the User Guide of the
Router.

Wireless Protection
Change the wireless security settings of your wireless
network.

Device Detail

To print the details, click Print. To exit the Device Detail

screen, click Close.

Rename
Change the default name and icon used in the network
map.

Secure Your Wireless Network

The Secure Your Wireless Network wizard automatically

runs. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Change Name and Device Add Device

To save your changes, click OK. To cancel your changes, The Add Device wizard automatically runs. Follow the on-

Advanced Settings (Linksys Devices Only) Tasks/Tools

Click this option if you want to track this device as an

How to Use Linksys EasyLink Advisor

At the bottom of the network map, there are four
buttons, which access the wizards for the most common

Click this option to add more computers or devices, which

Click the option you want, and then follow the on-screen
instructions.
To exit the Tasks/Tools screen, click Close.
Event History
Click this option to view the status information of your
Internet connection and wireless network. Any alerts
about your network are also displayed.
Event History
To exit the Event History screen, click Close. If your
network has disconnected from the Internet, click Repair
Connection.
My Account
Click this option to create an account or access your
existing account. You can register your Linksys products
or sign up to receive product-related notices.

Use
Sign In
Access your existing account.
Email  Enter your e-mail address.
Password  Enter your password.
To sign in, click Sign In. If you forgot your password, click
Forget My Password. To exit the screen, click Close.
If you do not have an account, click Register to create an
account. Then follow the on-screen instructions.
Additional Tasks
In addition to the Add Device, Tasks/Tools, Event History,
and Cisco Account buttons, you have four menus available
at the top left corner of the network map. These menus
access additional functions of Linksys EasyLink Advisor.

Update Notification Preferences

Chapter 2 Use

Notifications  Click this option to change the update

preference.
Linksys EasyLink Advisor can manage firmware updates
for your Linksys products. Select the method you want to
use:
• Download and install updates without notification
(Recommended)  Updates are automatically
downloaded and installed.
• Download update and notify me when update is
ready to be installed  Updates are automatically
downloaded. You will be asked for permission to install
the updates.
• Notify me before downloading any updates  You
will be asked for permission to download updates. Print Preview
To save your change, click Done.
View
Language
Select the language you want to use.

Linksys Community Forums  Click this option to
participate in forums for Linksys product users.
To exit the Help Center screen, click Done.

Click this option to view version information for Linksys
EasyLink Advisor.

Click this option to check for Linksys EasyLink Advisor
software updates and firmware updates for your Linksys
