Script for the Escape Room 8/10/19 1

INT. GARAGE. MAIDENHEAD, ENGLAND.

It is a cloudy day in Maidenhead. The weather is bleak, and the sky is


grey. The street is quiet with the occasional car driving past.

Camera is facing towards the opening of the garage.


Garage door opens. Light fills the room.
Continuous shot from the garage to the inside of the house
The camera stops to look at a row of tins.

PSYCHO readjusts one of the tins


PSYCHO walks to mirror and straightens clothes and hair
Close up of PSYCHO, we never see her face.

EXT. FRONT DOOR OF HOUSE

Close up of sign which says “escape room to use”

[audio of guests talking is in the shot before] - J CUT

Guest 1

What do you think this escape room will be like?

Guest 2

I don’t know, a friend told me about it.

He said that the man who lives here

Lives alone and hasn’t spoken to anyone for years

Mid shot of the psycho looking through of the shoulders

Both guests walk through.


The PSYCHO slams the door behind them, checking the road quickly, so
then she can ensure that no one has follow them.

The sound of the door slams then it cuts to the kitchen


INT. KITCHEN OF HOUSE. FAIRLY LIGHT. MID MORNING

PSYCHO
There are rules when it comes to using my escape room
You are not allowed to use your mobile de-
HEY! Get off from there
Guest 1 is sitting on the kitchen counter
PSYCHO pushes them off and rubs down the counter quickly
PSYCHO
As I was saying. You are required to hand your mobile devices in.
Because you may cheat and use the internet to look up the answers
You are also not allowed to scream or make loud noises.
I do not want to have complaints from my neighbours.

While this conversation is going on. Guest 2 looks around the room and
the decorations Camera pans like it is a point of view shot
Psycho’s eyes also follow. Guest looking worried
Extreme close up of psycho’s eyes. The camera stays on her eyes for an
unsettling amount of time

There is a huge noise from the sound of the garage door closing

INT. GARAGE. DARK


The room is dark, only natural light is being let in
GUEST 2
Something wasn’t right with him. He seemed too on edge

He could just be paranoid that there are two random teenagers in his
house
BANG
Panel lights and projector comes on at the same time
PSYCHO
Find a way out, if you can
There are footsteps walking away

The projector has a timer for 5 minutes


The two guests look at each other worried

Guest 1
Well he didn’t have to sound so creepy
GUEST 2
Well what were you expecting, sunshine and rainbows?
GUEST 1
Ha-ha. Funny (sarcasm) hurry up we have 5 minutes!

Many shots of guests looking through their surroundings

Camera focuses to PSYCHO who is looking at them through CCTV/the window


Camera returns to guests who are rummaging around
Camera focuses on clock
GUEST 1 picks up memorabilia, inspecting it

He’s a ton of tinned food, all labelled
And he’s got war memorabilia everywhere
Guest 2
Maybe he thinks a world war 3 could happen at anytime
and he’s prepared

True, he does look constantly paranoid

Camera returns to clock

Guest 1 spots a piece of paper in the corner of their eye

Guest 1 picks up a piece of paper.

CLUE #1

“I have spine but no spinal cord. Go to where I live”

GUEST 1
Hey, come look at this
GUEST 2
What is it? What do you think it means?
GUEST 1
Oh, I’ve heard this so many times. It’s a book

Guest 2 goes to war memorabilia bookshelf.

By the bookshelf there is another piece of paper that reads

CLUE #2

I am a disaster, but a lesson to be learnt from

Guest 2

The war! There’s been two world wars and people are still fighting

Guest 1 picks up the only book about the war. They open the book. A
piece of paper drops to the floor facing down. Guest 2 picks up the
piece of paper

CLUE #3

Time’s up. There’s no way out

They look at the clock. It is counting down from 0:05

The lights and projector start to flicker

PANICKED FOOTSTEPS OF THE GUESTS

Camera pushes in towards the guests’ faces to show worry and fear

They try to get out, but every door/exit is locked. Guests start to
panic and banging on walls

[shouting between guests occur]

Scene cuts to the PSYCHO watching them in the CCTV, muffled shouting

Psycho looks down

FLASHBACK of childhood trauma. Small child is in a dark room alone where


muffled arguing can be heard

Flashback is interrupted by more shouting

Close up of psycho walking towards side door shouting “keep it down”

PSYCHO angrily walks into the garage with a weapon

Camera pans down to the weapon

And then cuts to black
