Body Language Notes :

- Social scientists have spent a lot of time looking at the effects of body language and other

people’s body language around us and can make judgements which can predict

meaningful life outcomes.

- How people interact with each other, especially the nonverbal interactions, can influence

a situation an awful lot.

- A study done by Alex Todorov at Princeton, showed that judgements of political

candidates' faces in just one second predict seventy percent of U.S. Senate and

gubernatorial race outcomes.

- We are also influenced by our nonverbals, our thoughts, feelings, and our physiology.

- Some of the nonverbal expressions of power and dominance are all about expanding and

opening up, making yourself big, and taking up space.

- When we feel powerless, we do the exact opposite and we close up, make ourselves

small.

- Women feel chronically less powerful than men, and this extends to be in relation with

rates of participation among a class and how well they were participating.

- Our nonverbals govern how other people think and feel about us.
- Power is also how you react to stress.

- Our nonverbals govern how we think and feel about ourselves, and our bodies change our

minds.

- It’s not about the content of the speech, but the presence of the speech does matter and

the energy they put behind it such as confidence, passion, authentic, captivate, and

enthusiasm.

- Fake it until you become it.

- Tiny tweaks can lead to big changes.
