Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Read Write Think’s Timeline is a great tool for students use because it
helps them organize their thought and they can see the chronological order of events using this tool. This tool
is easy and efficient. For kids with auditory impairments, this tool is great because you can visually see the
order of events.
Lesson idea implementation: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of historical figures by creating a
timeline based on their lives. Each student will be assigned a historical figure and asked to research their lives.
Students will be provided class time and classroom computers to complete project. Students will use Read
Write Think’s timeline to create an online presentation of a timeline based on their historical figures. The
project will be introduced after all content has been presented briefly.
Students should already know a lot about each historical figure but with this assignment they are being
asked to find more information that they weren’t given. This project should take 2 days and students will be
asked to present timelines to the rest of the class on the third day. During presentations, students should be
taking notes on the new information learned from peers.

Reflective Practice: I think this is a good lesson for students because I’m giving them a sprinkle of information
first and asking them to add more. Students are learning from teacher and peers. I could go further and let
students decide what historical figure they wanted to research or putting them in groups and present by
groups each historical figure instead of assigning one to each student and hearing multiple presentations on
the same historical figure. Students could use PowerPoint to enhance their presentation instead of just using
timeline.
