NIBONG TEBAL: A Year Six pupil, who did not get the UPSR examination results she promised her parents, died in hospital yesterday -- a day after she
was found hanging from the ceiling of her room.

S. Subashini, 12, of SRJK (T) Ladang Simpah, was rushed to hospital on Saturday and died at 4.05am yesterday.

Subashini is believed to have been in a state of

She had promised her parents that she
would score 4As.
She used to be among the top scorers in school and had four sisters, aged between 3 and 13.
Her father, G. Sivakumar, 36, said Subashini was last seen playing with her sisters in their home at Changkat here about 1.40pm on Saturday.

Her elder sister screamed for help when she saw Subashini.

Their mother and neighbours rushed the girl, who was still alive, to the nearby Sungai Bakap Hospital.

About three hours later, she was transferred to the Seberang Jaya Hospital when her condition deteriorated.

Sivakumar, who is a Penang Water Supply Corporation employee, said doctors failed to save his daughter and she died early yesterday morning.

"My daughter was an intelligent girl. I cannot accept that she is dead.

"I told her not to worry about her results although she failed to achieve what she hoped for," he said.

Sivakumar said Subashini had promised to achieve a minimum of 4As and had asked him to buy her four gold rings as a gift for the achievement.

"I did not expect her to do this as there was no indication earlier that she would resort to such drastic action," he
