CONSIGNMENTS OF
DANGEROUS AND
POLLUTING GOODS
HANDLED IN THE PORT
OF LONDON
Version 1
20/05/2010
Port of London Authority
Vessel Traffic Services
This document contains details of the dangerous and polluting goods consignments handled
at berths within the Port of London over the past two years. Information is given in UN
number order and includes IMO class, UN number and proper shipping name.
A number of consignments that do not possess a UN number are not provided as it has not
been possible for the PLA validate the trade/commercial names previously provided by
agencies with a proper shipping name.
This in itself highlights the need for the provision of a correct proper shipping name as this is
essential for the swift identification and implementation of appropriate IMDG/BC/IBC
emergency plans.
For goods of IMO Class 3 the relevant packing group must also be declared. The categories
3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 are no longer part of the IMDG code and will not be accepted.
If you do not supply a packing group where necessary then your vessel may be classified as
SPECIFIED which may involve the invocation of specific VTS procedures.
This document is a guide only and the responsibility for the correct verification of cargo
details rests with the agency submitting the information. If in any doubt agencies are
recommended to contact the vessel concerned who will be able to provide full technical
details of the cargoes carried.
