STEP 4B: Check the fuel drain line restriction.
Condition:
• Remove the banjo bolt from the fuel pump adapter drain connection at the fuel pump adapter.
• Install the banjo test fitting, Part Number 4918413, in place of the banjo bolt.
• Install Compuchek™ fitting, Part Number 3042618, or equivalent, into the banjo test fitting.
• Attach a 0 to 762 mm-Hg [0 to 30 in-Hg] pressure/vacuum gauge to the banjo test fitting at the fuel pump
adapter.
• Secure the gauge in a safe readable location so the vehicle can be road tested.

Action Specification/Repair Next Step

Operate the engine at low idle, high idle, and Drain line restriction greater than 101.6 mm- 5A
during a road test under load. Hg [4 in-Hg]?
Observe the reading on the gauge. YES
Repair:
Check the fuel drain system for restrictions
such as proper fuel line size, leaks, bends,
kinks, cracks, or clogs. Also check for proper
fuel tank vent operation.

Replace the fuel pump adapter and actuator.
Refer to Procedure 005-228 in the
Associated Procedures Table.
Calibrate the ECM to the latest available
calibration revision even if the ECM already
contains the latest revision available. This is
necessary to reset the fault code counter.
The counter will not reset using any of the
reset functions in INSITE™ electronic service
tool. Failure to calibrate the ECM may result
in repeat occurrences of this fault code.
Refer to Procedure 019-032 in the
Associated Procedures Table.
