5.I WANT SOMETHING IN A CAGE

a.What did the man do after he bought „something in a cage‟? Why ? Do you agree
with him?
He stepped out of the shop ,held the cage shoulder high and stared at his
purchase. He then opened the cage,drew out one of the birds and tossed it into
the air; he then drew out the second bird and set it free too .He himself had been
in prison ;so he knew the value of freedom. He spent his ten years‟ hard earned
money to buy the birds . I agree with him;not only man but also birds and
animals need freedom

b.Mr Purcell at first felt vaguely insulted. But he kept thinking about the
customer’s action. He then wrote a few lines in his notebook .Imagine yourself
as Purcell and write those lines
It was an unusual day for me.There was a very strange customer in my shop.He
made a specific choice, bargained at length and bought what he needed with his ten
years of hard earned money only to step out of the shop and let the birds fly in the
air.

Why did he buy them then? Should he not have taken them with him and watched
them with joy for they were such lovely pets? He asked me about the noise in the
shop. That sets me wondering.Perhaps I too could let a bird out in the air like him and
find out how I feel

How relieved I feel today! Ten years in prison ! What a hard life! I know the value of
leading a proper life in the free world. I expressed my joy in giving freedom to two
caged birds. I bought them with my hard earned money after bargaining a great deal.

I felt extremely happy. Even now when I think of it , I feel happy. If I had had more
money ,I would have let some more birds and animals free.

First let me look out for a job, earn money, lead a free life to give freedom to birds and
animals
