EYELET CHEVRON
STITCH OF THE MONTH – August 2013
The Eyelet Chevron is a classic knit stitch that produces a zigzag eyelet pattern. The right-
slanting stitches are produced by knitting two stitches together, while the left-slanting stitches
are made by slipping a stitch, knitting the next stitch and then passing the slipped stitch over
the knitted stitch. There is a double decrease where the left and right slanting stitches meet to
finish the pattern. The eyelets are formed using a simple yarn over.

The Eyelet Chevron pattern is on a stockinette stitch background which means that the edges
of the fabric will curl so you may want to avoid using it as a border stitch. It would look great in
a sweater, hat or a blanket (such as a baby blanket with a seed stitch border).
