10 PRINCIPLES OF CBT

Principle # 1

The training is based on curriculum developed from the competency standards.


Training is geared towards the needs and standards of the industry
Derived from the TRAINING REGULATION
Principle # 2
Learning is competency-based or modular in structure

Competencies maybe divided into training modules


Competency-based training is facilitated by modular instruction
One competency=onemodule
} Learn one competency after another
Principle #3
Training delivery is individualized and self-paced.

Learning is done by the learner at their own pace


Allow trainee to advance on his own without waiting for Others.
Principle #4
Training is based on work that must be performed
Learning is based on the actual industry practice
Training should provide for a simulated work environment

Training materials are directly related to the competency standards and the curriculum
Learning materials should always conform to the competency-based curriculum and
Competency standards
Principle #6
Assessment of learners is based in the collection of evidences of work
performance based on industry or organizational required standards

Students are not judged against each other. Each student is assessed against the
required standard. There is an institutional assessment conducted through written test,
performance test and oral questioning.
Principle # 7.
Training is based both on and off the job components
Better learning with industry and school partnership
Principle # 8

The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).


Workers and Students can have prior skills recognised towards awards

Principle #9
The system allows for learners to enter and exit programs at different times and
levels and to receive an award for competencies attained at any point
There is flexibility for entry and exit from programs\

Principle # 10

Approved training programs are nationally accredited


Training programs are registered within UTPRAS
