Construction Materials and Testing (Laboratory)

Sieve Analysis
for Aggregates
I. CONCLUSION
Aggregates that will be used in construction must have different sizes
which is fine and coarse because it will help the building or other
structure to be well-built and strong. In performing this laboratory
exercise, “Sieve Analysis for Aggregates”, I conclude that to know if the
Aggregates are fine, quality and good to be used in the construction of
buildings or other structures is that we need to sieve an amount of sand
and gravel from coarse into fine aggregates until they are separated into
their different sizes and we will observe if the sieved aggregates are well-
balanced. Our graph will show the percentage of sieve sizes which have
the less and more amount.

Therefore, we have achieved and reached the objectives of this

experiment and learned how to utilize and segregate different sizes of
aggregates through graphing if the percentage of aggregate’s sizes are
fine to use in building different structures. We may apply this in our field
especially in construction of buildings, roads, bridges and etc.

II. RECOMMENDATION
In performing this experiment, It is suggested to clean first the sieve that
are going to use in experiment and remove the unnecessary and excess

aggregates inside the sieve before it weigh and use because it may affect
the result once the aggregates were stocked and it will lessen the
accuracy. Sieve the aggregates cautiously and be careful not to lose any
of the aggregates during the shaking or even in weighing the materials for
an effective and finer sieve analysis result so it will show how accurate
the experiment is.
