Author of the Day

_Guidelines_

1. The activity is for all Grade 12 students who are currently enrolled in the subject 21st
Century Literature from the Philippines and the World.

2. Each student shall choose an author to portray from any Literature books (preferred
local) and will imitate from 7:30AM until dismissal.

3. A name tag must be worn with the complete name of the author.

4. The “author of the day” must introduce himself to the class during Literature class and
say a line or two about the author being portrayed.

For example: I am a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor, and critic. My first novel “Things
Fall Apart” is the most widely read book in modern African literature, I am Mr. Chinua
Achebe.

Nota Bene: Appearance. Image is not everything, but it does account for a lot. Through
how a person looks, you may try to infer what the person is like – but appearances may be
deceptive.

5. Students can wear costumes and make up, props are not allowed. Please make sure to
review the dress code, no wearing of jeans, sleeveless, plunging necklines etc…(one may
refer to the handbook)

6. Impersonation of political figures is not allowed.

Common scenario: A subject teacher may ask “what is your name?” or “why you are not
wearing your uniform?” The student must remain in character, stay calm and answer
politely, introduce yourself as the author you are imitating not your real name. This is part
of your grade.

7. In this activity, the students are graded according to their ability to portray the character
and give a life to the author being depicted for a day.

8. The activity will start on June 17, Monday. It will be gracefully started by G1 followed by
G2 the next day til the last male student in the e-list.

9. During shortened periods, special schedule the author of the day activity will be put to
halt. It will only be done during regular class days.
