PROFESSIONAL DISPOSITION 2

Professional Disposition

When thinking about professional disposition in the context of education as well as

working with children from different walks of life, the disposition statement that includes

my field, career, and passion about students. This statement involves the demonstration of

persistence in helping all of my students achieve success, holding positive expectations

for my students and their learning, student achievement reinforcement, high expectations

for all students whom I interact with, and finally my advocating for all learners whether I

teach them or not.

Self-assessments includes components of my professional disposition will show that

each of the areas that are covered within my professional disposition shows that my

educational goal are reflective within and ensures the success of all learners in my class

as well as learners that I interact with on a daily basis. My professional disposition also

puts the focal point on student achievement and prevents me from becoming complacent

because the educational realm is forever evolving. This statement also ensure that I

maintain resources that will also ensure student’s success. My self-assessment also

supports my disposition statement by reassuring that my goals align with those of my

school and school district. These goals and standards are put in place by educational

professionals to give students a leveled playing field for success both academically and

socially.

When starting this program, many of the components of my disposition were done

from an area of complacence. I was comfortable with the results of my students showing

some growth, but not keeping in mind that they were not showing maximum growth

based on their abilities. Another weakness I noticed looking back at the start of the

program is that I was comfortable with my students meeting daily expectations in regard

to performance levels. I was only worried about growth points on state benchmarks and

not the fact that they could benefit more by growing another level. As I progressed

through the program, I was forced, through assignments, to take another look at my

students, their performances, and their academic success. I began to hold my students to

an even higher level of expectations in which, to my surprise, they were able to meet and

exceed those challenges.

As I continue to improve in reaching my students and ensuring their success, I will

continue to get professional training on new resources introduced and provided. First, I

will chart student data that reflects their current academic performance level followed by

creating resources unique to my students’ learning abilities. The next step I will take will

be to put intervention and remediation resources in place so that students who are slower

at mastery or do not quite master an objective. Also maintaining an open line of

communication with parents and professional colleagues who may also work with the

same students I will work with to keep track of student progress from all angles.

In conclusion, my professional disposition statement is a guiding principle that

ensures all students have a chance at academic success. This statement also ensures that I

am upholding my professional standards and hold my students accountable to the highest

expectations.
