Topic-Knife crime

What are you hoping to achieve through choosing this topic?

I am hoping to achieve that people will understand what a knife can do as
most knife crime victims and criminals are in my target audience, they don’t
know what the damage a knife can do to them and other people. Hopefully
I can make someone put down there knife as they realise it’s not worth it. I
also want to people to know how to help there wound until an ambulance
gets to them or as most people in gangs involved in knife crime they don’t
want to call the police or ambulance as they are scared I can tell them how
to heal there wound but I will emphasise the fact that knife are dangerous
and any stab wound can kill you so I will urge them to see a paramedic. I
would also like to get a message to the government that these teenagers are
bored and they want something to do, therefor the government taking down
and restricting youth clubs is a big part as if they got youth clubs up and
running and made them fun and more of them in my opinion that would be
a step in the right direction. My target audience is 14-24 however most
people in knife crime are 18 so I want to put all the 14-17 off knife crime and
realise that it’s just not worth it. The 18-19 I want them to finally put down the
knife’s as they need to think about their future as why they would want to ruin
their life going to jail or potentially dying. The 20-24 some of them have
younger sibling so I will encourage them to check up on the younger sister or
brother and some of them would want children of their own but they are
scared as they don’t want their children involved in knife crime or getting
attacked.

Factual programme concept

For my factual programme I want to interview a paramedic warning people
on how dangerous knife are. I would also want to know the statistics on how
many people in the UK get wounded and killed from knife crime and what to
do if you get stabbed and waiting for the ambulance. I want to narrate at
the start talking about all of the key facts I have researched and telling the
audience that knife crime is just not worth it and that they should put them
down. I also want to talk about the youth clubs as they play a key role in the
youth as from what I have researched the places where there isn’t enough
youth clubs or the ones that isn’t funded enough have more criminal activity
on especially knife crime. I would also like to mention the music genre drill as
some people could say that UK drill promotes knife crime as they glamorise

knife crime and criminal activity in general. I will also put some
background music on to set the scene and make it more serious and to still
have the audience gripped as the audience I have are known for not
having to biggest attention span. If I cannot get an interview with the
paramedic will interview a youth club worker or a doctor.

Animation concept
For my animation I want to make I animation about how to heal your wound
and what to do when you get stabbed as my target audience are not
informed on what to do most of them know to basics on how to stop the
bleeding but putting pressure on the wound however there is more to that as
you need to regulate your breathing to not go into shock as most victims of a
stabbing are young so they think the feel that it isn’t that bad however the
wound could be way worse than it feels and looks, as they don’t know if it hit
main blood vessel or organ. I want to make it vibrant as I want the audience
to take in the information and if it’s too dull and boring the target audience
will switch off however the information I want them to take it in as it could
save their life so I want to make it eye catching and vibrant.

Short film concept

For my short film I want to do I character where he is in the gang and I want
to link it with the genre drill as at the start I am going to make the scene
where there in a studio where he’s rapping on what he done and it will keep
cutting to him doing it on the day he done the stabbing and him in the studio
rapping about it. After that I want to make it where he goes to jail and his
parents are upset and the victim’s parents are crying at a funeral and at the
end I want a black screen with text on it saying is it worth it put down the
knife. I think this will be really effective as in drill they glamorise it however on
the day of doing the crime it really isn’t funny at all and you get to see the
harsh reality of the aftermath of what happened that the family are both
distraught as one son is a murder and the other has died so it goes to show in
the end no one wins. I think this will really hit my target audience hard as it will
make them think about say if I done this to my mum? Say if I was the one who
got stabbed? And do I want to ruin my life and spend most of it in jail? That is
the response I want as I want my target audience going away with it on their
mind and I want them to think about is it worth it which it isn’t. I also want the
short film to be fast pace as I want it to grip the audience what I want to
attract need it to be fast pace to keep interested and want to know what’s
going happen next and to take in the message of the short film.
