GTU SIGNED MOU WITH VODAFONE FOUNDATION FOR EMPOWERING THE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS OF
STUDENTS ON 29TH MAY 2019
Vodafone Foundation in collaboration with GTU will offer online courses on application of Linux
fundamentals in areas of Data Analytics, Machine Learning leading to Artificial Intelligence to its
affiliated colleges. The initiative is expected to benefit to students of the GTU.

International Experience Programme (IEP) is one of the largest student mobility programmes in

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Gujarat Technological University organized 8th Centralized Pharmacy Placement Fair at GTU
Chandkheda campus on 25th-26th May, 2019. About 75 companies with more than 1400 job offers have
taken part in this placement fair. In the inaugural function on 25th May 2019, Mr. Ketan Naik (Chief
Executive, Astral Pharmaceutical) and Mr. Padmin Buch (IPR Domain Expert, Senior Visiting Faculty EDII)
were invited as Chief Guest & Guest of Honor respectively.

GTU LAUNCHED MBA - INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP & VENTURE DEVELOPMENT (IEV) FROM
A.Y. 2019-20
Graduate School of Management Studies (GSMS), Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has received
approval by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to start MBA (Innovation, Entrepreneurship and
Venture Development) from the academic year 2019 -20 onwards. The programme has been designed
to produce New Generation Entrepreneurs capable of building innovative ventures and simultaneously
earning master degrees in a span of two academic years.
GTU organized a one day FDP for MBA Semester III faculties
on 26th June, Wednesday at its Graduate School of
Management Studies (GSMS). The objective of the FDP was
to orient the faculties with the newly introduced subjects in
the revised MBA syllabus of semester III. The FDP received a
very enthusiastic response and more than 90 faculty

OTHER EVENTS
Vishwahack, a 36-hour long hackathon was held on 4 th -5th April under the banner of GTU Central
Techfest'19 organized by Vishwakarma Government Engineering
College. Ceremony was pleasantly blended by the presence of Chief
guests - Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth , Honorable Vice Chancellor, GTU;
Dr. J.C Lilani , I/C Registrar; Mr. Pavak Shah, Co-founder of
NavigatoIO and Prof. Femina Patel - HOD of Chemical Department.
Vishwakarma Government Engineering College hosted the GTU Central Tech-Fest 2019 on the 8th and 9th
April 2019. The GTU Central TechFest 2019, received a myriad footfall of 10,000+ students. This year the
event covered social causes like Traffic Management and Awareness Program, Blood donation and eye
check-up camp, Election Awareness Nukkad- Natak
and a run for ‘Green Environment’ along with
invigorating competitions including 50+ technical
and non-technical events, 6+ entrepreneurship
events, 5+ workshops, Ace d Expert 2.0 talks,
astounding ATV Championship 6.0 and a Conclave
blending the defense, atomic and space
technologies named ‘Trishool’ creating a latitude
for students to burgeon their technical and
managerial skills.
An IoT based robot named 'VishwaNavdhara’ felicitated the guests that caught everyone’s eye. Among
the esteemed guests of honour, Shri. A. K Singh (IPS), Police Commissioner, Ahmedabad; Dr. Jaimin R.
Vasa, Chairman and MD, Vasa Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd; Mr. Janak Khandwala, member of Board of
Governors GTU, executive director of Silver Oak College; Dr. J.C. Lilani, Registrar of GTU; Dr. Rajul Gajjar,
Principal, VGEC; and faculty coordinator of TechFest, Dr. D.P Maheshwari were present.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (GSMS) ORGANIZED GTU CENTRAL TECHFEST FOR
MANAGEMENT FROM 8TH TO 9TH APRIL 2019
DIABETES AND HYPERTENSION AWARNESS & PREVENTION CAMP ON 21ST MAY 2019
This camp was carried out at GTU Chandkheda campus as a joint event of Aarogya Bharti,
Gujarat, SGVP & GTU. After “DIP-PRAGATYA” PROF. (Dr.) Navin Sheth , Honorable VC of GTU
stated in his speech that hypertension & Diabetes are now spreading quickly in our country due
to modern life style.
Dr. Amrutbhai Prajapati and Gujarat Prant Sachiv, Aarogya Bharti discussed the importance of
necessary life style changes, yoga and exercise to relieve tension and regular checkup after
age of 35.

MENTORING CUM START UP CLINIC ON 18 MAY 2019

GTU Innovation Council organized Startup Clinic on 18 May 2019 at GIC block 6, LDCE, Ahmedabad.
In this session 40 Startups founders and Innovators gathered to get insights of Startup Gujarat
Nodal Institute scheme. The purpose of Startup clinic programme was to create awareness &
capacity building on various key aspects for Startup founders and Innovators. GTU is one of the
nodal institute where financial assistance of up to Rs 10 Lakh is allotted to innovators for finalizing
the prototype.
In this session GIC invited applicants from Startup Gujarat Nodal Institute Policy for level zero
screening and introduction session. The participants for startup clinic programme was from 18 to 45
age group. In this programme startups applicants from Rajkot, Baroda, Surat and Ahmedabad were
present to showcase their innovative product idea.

GTU ORGANIZED TWO WEEK LONG DESIGN BOOTCAMP 2019 FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN FROM 20 TH MAY
TO 31ST MAY 2019
GTU organized two week long Design Bootcamp which was started on 20th May and came to end on
31st May after two weeks of rigorous training on Creativity and Innovation using Design Thinking
approach, with all fun filled hands-on exercises and games. This bootcamp was supported by Design
Innovation Centre (DIC – Hub) of GTU in association with Student Start- up & Innovation Policy (SSIP) –
GoG, and exclusively designed for School Children from std. 8-12 of Gujarat State. Total 45 students, 6
teachers from 17 different schools from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Vadodara and Bhuj
participated during bootcamp.
They have also learnt the emerging technologies like 3D printing, AR VR, Integration of Electronics parts
like Arduino, Sensors, Drives etc., Reverse Engineering. Using these learning during two weeks, teams
have come up with total six amazing ideas like Team Wings of
Fire: Mouse/Rat shaped vacuum cleaner to clean underneath
the furniture, Team Rocking Friends: Alcohol Detection
Drone to help Police to detect alcohol making/selling places,
Team Pentagon Designers: Bag with Detachable and Foldable
Umbrella for
worker to protect
them from intense
heat and rain,
Team Alpha:
Team Rocking Friends Parking alert system
using Arduino and Sensors, Team Delta Designers: Natural
Material Biodegradable Foldable bag integrated with Fashion
Accessories, and Team Designer Youth: Other Vehicle avoidance system in BRTS Lane.
Atal Incubation Center of GTU organized ‘Expert Interaction Session on Innovations and Opportunities
for Healthcare and Medical Sector’ for Start-ups, Innovators and budding entrepreneurs.

GTU STARTUP DEMO DAY – VADODARA EDITION ON 15 JUNE 2019
GTU Startup Demo Day was a 4 hours dedicated programme for entrepreneurs and innovators focused on
Product demonstration, Industry - Mentor Connect, Startup Facilitator Interactions & Market
Opportunities.
It served as a launchpad for aspiring entrepreneurs,
innovators, students and startup enthusiasts who
are working in their respective problem solving
fields. More than 150 Entrepreneurs, Innovators,
Academicians & Industry Mentors from all across the
region and the Gujarat came together and
showcased as well as discussed on startup products.
Then, GIC incubated start-ups felicitated distinguished
guest Dr. Akanksha Singh Director-UWSL, Karnavati
University) and jury members Dr.Santosh Shah (Director
- Innovtion, BITS Edu Campus Vadodara), Ms. Taruna
Suryavanshi (Director, Cinemarc Multiplexes), Mr. Rudresh Vyas (Manager-Educaton, Engineering
Techniques) and Mr. Ramku Patgir (President, Globomotive Inc.).
One day workshop on “Education for Sustainable Development using Design Thinking” was organized by
Design Innovation Centre (DIC - HUB) of GTU at Chandkheda campus on 27th June, 2019. GTU received
the grant from MHRD to establish a full-fledged Design Innovation Centre (DIC) to support ideas of
student innovators at University Premise as Hub and other
three institutes in Rajkot, Surat and Modasa as spokes to
cover entire state. The objectives of the workshop were to
enhance and strengthen Design Thinking mindset in GTU
which were already implemented in curriculum since 2014
by integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - a
collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations
General Assembly in 2015 for the year 2030. Experts for this
workshop, Mr. Yash Chawla, Wroclaw University of Science
and Technology, Poland has explained the SDGs in details through a case study on connection between
Mobile Phone-Africa- Gorillas. Total 40 faculty members from various GTU affiliated colleges
participated across the state.

Today’s youths have been raised with the habit of urban living. In that situation, there is less
experience of how youth can be rekindled in the rural life. As a result, the distance between the
city and village increases and social inequality is also prevailing. Instead of ignoring this social
question; with GTU, Students for Development Institute (SDI) had organized the experim ent
camp 2019 (Gramya Jivan Anubhuti) to make student experience and understand the rural life.

Gramya Jivan Anubhuti camp was held from 22 June to 24 June, 2019 in which more than
300 students participated. They visited more than 90 villages in 6 different zones; Botad,
Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Surat, Vadodara and Savli.

ORIENTATION OF GTU ROBOTICS CLUB FOR YEAR 2019 -20 on 30 June 2019
In National ROBOCON 2019, the GTU ROBOCON team secured 3rd National Rank among 87
registered teams and also won 2nd Runner up
Title, ROHM Semiconductor Sensor kit and 100
Euro Book Voucher. Also, in Mitsubishi Electric
cup 2019 ‘Team Tinker' secured 10th
Appreciation Award. The main aim for this
orientation function was to spread information
about the GTU ROBOTICS Club to GTU affiliated
Colleges. The programme was attended by more
than 83 Students from 23 Engineering Colleges
affiliated with the GTU.
