Dear Hiring Manager,

I am responding to your career opportunity for a Director of Human Resources. I

feel I am well qualified for this position and would like the opportunity to discuss
the position with you further.

I have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in

Psychology. In my current role as Director of Administration, I am responsible for
Human Resources, Marketing and Facilities. My responsibilities under Human
Resources include payroll administration, benefits, recruiting, Worker’s
Compensation, Health and Safety and other functions relating to employees. In a
previous position as a Business Analyst, I developed software solutions for the
Human Resources Department including online Benefits Enrollment and Beneficiary
Designations. I manage a team of five staff members to meet the needs of
approximately 200 employees. To further strengthen my skills in Human
Resources, I participate in local and regional employment conferences. My current
employer is an Early Childhood Educator and I am excited to work for a college that
continues the learning spectrum to adulthood.

One of my recent accomplishments was to set up a 401-K Retirement Plan for

employees. I believe one of the primary goals of the Director of Human Resources is
to perfect the balance of benefits for employees and expense to the business. With
this project, I was able to offer a competitive benefit to employees but also mitigate
the cost to the business by building in a conservative vesting plan to ensure the
benefit was rewarding longevity of employment.

Palomar College sounds like a great place to work. I believe I can add great value to
the Human Resources Department and to Palomar College. Thank you in advance
for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at
lhicks4544@student.palomar.edu or by phone at 858-222-2222.

Kind regards,

Lisa Hicks
