Reflection and Personal Professional Dispositions Statement
As an educator I will strive to interact respectfully, patiently, friendly, empathetically,
compassionately and responsibly toward all of my fellow students and colleagues. I will demonstrate ethical, honest and professional behavior in my attitude, dress and character at all times. I will be open to change, critique, collaboration and improvement at all times. I will have the utmost respect and admiration for all kinds of diversity within and out of the classroom. My self -assessment as seen above is almost like common sense to me. I strongly agree whole heartedly with all the statements. These statements support my own statement because they represent my beliefs to the core. I believe in being honest, respectful, professional, ethical, humble, compassionate and friendly at all times to all people in general. I have grown in the professional dispositions throughout my program of study because I have learned more about ethics and what is appropriate or not in the professional workplace. My program has taught me to be humble and accept critique and change when necessary. It has also taught me to collaborate with others and respects their ideas and opinions. In one of my recent classes I had to do a group project. No one volunteered to lead the group or start the conversation so I took the reins and presented an idea to them. I let them know that they were welcome to add in their own thoughts/ ideas so we could all be on the same page. As the leader of the group, I wanted them to know that I am not in charge but I can be their guide and liason to get the ball rolling. They responded well to this and came up with some ideas as well. I definitely have room for improvements within several areas of the dispositions. I am not as organized as I’d like to be. I often don’t have the best time management skills. I know it will be necessary to change lesson plans once in a while to fit student’s needs but that is something I may struggle with in the future. I will improve these areas by taking note of my time management and making changes where necessary so that I can have more time to make individualized and unique lesson plans to accommodate all of my students.
