ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Apart from our efforts, the success of this project depends largely on the encouragement
and guidelines of many others. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the
people who have been instrumental in the successful completion of this project.

We take immense pleasure in thanking Mr. Mahadev Prasad ,We can’t thank enough
for his tremendous support and help. Without his encouragement and guidance this
project would not have materialized.

We also would like to extend our gratitude towards our parents who have been a constant
support, and suggesting ideas on improving our project.

Many people, especially our classmates and seniors have made valuable comments/
suggestions on this project which gave us an inspiration to improve our ideas. We thank
all the people for their help directly and indirectly to complete this project.

1. ABSTRACT
The report sheds light on the idea behind the ideology of incorporating Natural Fiber
Composites (NFC) as insulation in an induction. It is concerned with the limitations
like portability, durability and heat resistance that follow with the use of expensive
materials like carbon fibres in an flexible induction systems, the introduction of NFCs
to overcome these limitations as mentioned above.

Natural Fibre Composites exhibit many advantages and disadvantages properties as

reinforced composites. The volume number of applications of composite materials
have grown steadily, penetrating and conquering new markets relentlessly. Modern
composite material constitutes of a significant proportion of the engineered materials
market ranging from everyday products to sophisticated products.

The mechanical properties of NFCs are much lower than synthetic fibres. Many
researchers are working on mechanical properties of the reinforced fibres by using
resin. Heat resistance is one the mechanical aspect which is widely focused in these
criteria. NFCs can be utilized to produce desired results accordingly to desire and also
can be cost effective which is main aspect of any product.

The report exclaims the objectives of the project and methodology of the project. The
project is mostly concerned towards the Innovative and Material industry sectors and
it showcases how this idea will be of atmost help to overcome the described
limitations.

2.INTRODUCTION

It is believed that source of petroleum-based products is limited and uncertain. So, an

alternative with cheap sustainable and easily available raw material is required. The
countries growing plant and fruit are not for only agricultural purpose but also to generate
raw materials for industries. Most of the developing countries trade lignocellulosic fibers
for improving economic condition of poor farmers as much as country support. Recently
polymer composites containing cellulosic fibers are under focus in literature as well as
industries.
Natural fibers have systematic internal cell wall structure which is divided into three
major structural parts. The microfibril angle and arrangement inside the cell wall decide
the properties of fibers. Cell wall mainly consists of two cell walls, primary cell wall and
secondary cell wall Primary cell wall propagates at the time of growth of plant.
Secondary cell wall is made up by three layers and each layer carries long chain of
microfibril. Amount of cellulose increases steadily and hemicelluloses content remains
the same in each layer but lignin content shows reciprocal trend to cellulose.
Hemicelluloses molecules are net- like structure and make bond with cellulosic fibrils.
Cellulose- hemicelluloses make network together and lignin and pectin provide an
adhesive quality. These adhesive properties are responsible for strength and rigidity of
cellulosic fibers.
The natural fibers are renewable resource, thus providing a better solution of sustainable
supply like low cost, better mechanical and physical properties. Usually in building
construction area these fibers provide cheap materials. Similarly, railways, automobile
and marine structures are the other fields which are getting benefits from it. In this project
we use banana and pineapple fibres as the natural fibres to find out the mechanical
properties.
