ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Gratitude might be a way to express one’s thankfulness but in a view it's still less in
showing how invaluable the guidance and the help means. My obedient and sincere
thanks to DR. S. Ram Reddy, Principal, SLRTCE, Mira Road for providing the facilities
and necessary assistance to our requirements which was crucial for the completion of
work. I express my thanks to Prof.Nina N., HOD(Mechanical), SLRTCE, Mira Road, for
giving his support for the growth of the project work.I am very grateful to Prof.Nina N.,
Project Supervisor under whose supervision it was made possible to lead the project
down its correct path. I thank Prof. Manish Rane, our Technical Guide throughout for the
project whose presence, guidance, help and encouragement towards the project induced an
effectiveness in the improvement of the quality of the project at all stages. Their guidance
and help will surely serve as the source and inspiration in the future, forever an
invaluable knowledge.I am also extremely thankful to the authors whose previous works
have been a great help in the consultation and reference for the project. I also thank my

ABSTRACT

Bicycle is the main mode of transportation for many Indian villagers. Most of these villages

are un-electrified. Power generated by pedaling can be converted from mechanical to

electrical energy by using either dynamo or alternator. Small powered lighting devices can be

charged using dynamo and can be used in the night by students for study purposes. This

principle can be extended to power mobiles, iPods, laptops etc. Power can be also generated

from the rotation of the wheels of alternator vehicles like bikes and cars, where there is a

possibility of generating more power. The generated power can be either used in the same

vehicle or can be stored in a battery for powering some other devices. Riding bicycle helps in

maintaining a good physic and along with it power can be also generated. This paper

presents methods in generating electricity by pedaling a bicycle. It also explains in detail the

method using bottle dynamo to generate power. A detailed analysis of using pedal power is

also presented.
