THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Kaitaia Abundant Life Centre – 18-25th Sept 1988 – EKB)

1. The Holy Spirit is a Divine Person of the Godhead worthy to receive our love,
adoration, faith and worship. (The Holy Spirit is not simply an influence or power that
God imparts.)

2. The Holy Spirit is a personal Being who is infinitely wise, holy, powerful, loving,
righteous and just. He is tender and gentle, an ever-present loving friend, who helps and
encourages us.

3. The Holy Spirit is God. Ac 5:3-5, (Is 6:8,9,10 + Ac28:25-27), 2Cor 3:17,18, (Ex l6:7 +
Heb 3:7-9,and Ps 95:8-11).

4. The Holy Spirit is equal to the Father and the Son, Mat 28:19, 2Cor 13:14, 1Cor 12:4-6.

5. The Holy Spirit is eternal, Heb 9:14.

6. The Holy Spirit is everywhere, Ps l39:7-10.

7. The Holy Spirit is all powerful, Lk 1:35, Rom 15:19, Gen 1:2, Ac 10:38.

8. The Holy Spirit is Creator, Job 33:4, Ps 104:30.

9. The Holy Spirit is all knowing, 1Cor 2:10,11, Jn 14:26, 16:12,13.

10. The Holy Spirit is distinct and separate from the Father and the Son.
Jn 14:16, 16:7, Ac 2:33, Mat 28:19, Lk 3:21,22.

11. The Holy Spirit in His work and ministry willingly and joyfully, submits Himself to the
will of the Father and the Son. Jn 16:13,14, Jn 14:26, 15:26. So sometimes He is called
“the Spirit of God” or “the Spirit of Christ”, Rom 8:9,Gal 4:6.

12. The Holy Spirit is “holy” or separate from all evil, sin and darkness and is full of all
goodness, life and light. Neh 9:20, Lk 11:13, Rom 1:4, Phil 1:19, 2Cor 3:3.

13. The Holy Spirit is truth, 1Jn5:6, Jn 14:17, 15:26, 16:13.

14. The Holy Spirit is referred to as “He” or “Him,” Jn 15:26, 16:7,8,13,14.

15. The Holy Spirit exercises His will, 1Cor 12:11, Jn 3:8.

16. The Holy Spirit exercises His mind and thinks, Rom8:27.

17. The Holy Spirit is loving, peaceful, joyful, longsuffering, good, gentle, meek, temperate,
faithful, compassionate, Gal 5:22,23, Rom 15:30.

18. The Holy Spirit can be grieved, resisted, tested, vexed, treated with contempt.

19. Study the seven aspects of the Holy Spirit, Is11:1-5, Rev 1:4, 4:5, 5:6. Zech 3:9, 4:10.

THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

(His Ministry)

1. He is the Creator God. Ps 33:6, Job 33:4, Gen l:2,3, Ps l04:30, Gen 2:7.

2. He bears witness to Jesus Christ. Jn l5:26, Ac 5:30-32, Jn 14:26, Jn 16:8-14,15,


Ac 2:36,37, Gen 6:3.

3. He is the Agent of the New Birth. Tit 3:5, Jn 3:3-5, 1Cor 6:11, 1Cor 12:13

4. He is the One who gives Life Eternal. Jn 6:63, 2Cor 3:6, 1Cor 2:4, 1Thes 1:5,
2Tim 1:7, Rom 8:2, Jn 4:14, 7:37-39, Rom 8:9.

5. The Holy Spirit gives power and strength. Eph 3:16, Ac l:8, 2Tim l:7, Mic 3:8,
Zech 4:6, 1Cor l2:10, Lk 24:49, Ac 4:30,31, Lk 4:14, 1Thes 1:5, 1Cor 2:4,5, Rom l5:19.

6. The Holy Spirit breaks the power of sin as we believe the promises of the Word.
Rom 8:2, 2Cor 7:1, 2Pet 1:3,4, Gal 5:17, 2Cor 3:16,17. He produces holiness
(CHRIST-LIKENESS) in us as we believe the promises. Rom 1:4, 15:16,
Gal 5:22,23. Rom 5:5, 14:17, 15:13.

7. The Holy Spirit lives in each believer, Jn 14:17, 1Cor 6:19, 3:16, empowering, cleansing
and bearing witness that we are His, Rom 8:16.

8. The Holy Spirit teaches and guides us. Jn 14:26, Eph 1:17, Jn 16:13. Rom 8:14,
Mat 4:1, Ac 8:29, 11:12, 10:19, 1Cor 2:10.

9. The Holy Spirit manifests the gifts of the Spirit so that we can do the works of Jesus,
1Cor 12:9-11, Jn 14:12, Rom 15:19.

10. The Holy Spirit intercedes and helps our weaknesses, Rom 8:26.

11. The Holy Spirit directs the preaching of the Word, Ac 16:6-10, Is 48:16, and sends out
the ministers of the Gospel, Ac 13:2-4, 20:28.

12. The Holy Spirit comforts and encourages us, Ac 9:31, Jn 14:26,16,17.

13. The Holy Spirit inspires the Word and speaks by the prophets. 2Tim 3:16, 2Pet 1:21,
Ac 1:16, 2Sam 23:2,3, 1Pet 1:11,12.

14. The Holy Spirit raised up Christ, and raises us up too, to walk in newness of life.
1Pet 3:18, Rom 8:11, 1:4, 6:4, 1Cor 6:14.

15. The Holy Spirit gives power to work miracles, healings and cast out demons.
