By using a smartphone application, we determined that the distance from the AV building
and the point opposite the NB flagpole (a) is 119 meters. From that particular point, the distance
to the flagpole (b) was calculated to be 138 meters.
To solve for the shortest distance between AV Building and the NB flagpole (c), we used
the Pythagorean Theorem:

𝑐 = √𝑎 2 + 𝑏 2
𝑐 = √(119 𝑚)2 + (134 𝑚)2
𝑐 = √14161 𝑚2 + 17956 𝑚2
𝑐 = √32117 𝑚2
𝒄 = 𝟏𝟕𝟗. 𝟐𝟏 𝒎

Therefore, the shortest distance from AV Building to the NB flagpole is 179.21 meters.
