THBT the English Premier League should significantly limit the

number of foreign players per team

Felix XJ/06
1st gov (prime minister)

Background:

Ladies and gentlemen, nowadays, in order to improve the quality of the game, English Premier
League allows to include the foreign player to join this intense football game. The English
Premier League aims to fulfill the people’s satisfaction in seeing the football game. Also, by
allowing to not limiting the number of foreign players to join the club, the income for that club
may be increased and have higher opportunities to win. But, this has the negative effects, such
as the people will assume that England football players aren’t skillful enough to compete and
the dependency to use foreign players to win for their club. So, in order to improve the
indigenous football skills, we will significantly limit the number of foreign players per team.

Definition:

English Premier League is a football organization that opens a football competition for England
and others clubs. Foreign players mean that not a local person (England origin person) who join
the English Premier League club to play football, such as the football player from South Africa,
South Korea, etc.

Proposal:

We would limit the foreign players to join the English Premier League clubs. Why we’re doing
this? First, to not always depend on the best top talented foreign players. We believe that
England football players can give their best to play football and become the high-quality
players. Because of this, the world will see that England has top football players too. Second,
because we want to save some money from buying such an expensive foreign players. We
believe that we can use the money to give improvements for the new, young indigenous
football players. With this, we can find a new young talented football player(s) also.

Arguments:

 The foreign players may dominate the England football team and this will cause
the England’s indigenous players to play less often.
Logically, when a club already buys a/- foreign player(s), they don’t want to get
loss, so they will use the foreign player every time if there will be a competition,
also the club already chosen the best foreign player to join also. This will effect
to the native football players, because they will be less relied on. The club will
gain a big loss also, because they don’t want to use the native football players
and are afraid to lose if there isn’t any foreign player to play at the competition.
The native players will be less in skills and tricks in playing football because of

lacking of experience. And, it will be less opportunities to improve the young,

new indigenous players to be the high-quality player, because the club only puts
the focus onto the foreign players only.
 Their own people and other countries will assume specifically the
underperformance of the England national team (England football players are
weak enough).
If the club only depends almost fully on the foreign players, it will bring a
concept to the society that England football players are not capable to play at
high-level competition. The society will look down at them and it destroys the
name of the club and bring shame to its own country. The aftereffects are first,
their own country will not depend on their own football team anymore, the
England football team will not get any support or cheers and this will affect their
play getting worse, second, the world will see that England football team is
actually weak enough. So, in order to prevent that, we will limited the foreign
players to join and represent the team to play at the competitions and trained
more for the native players to prove that they can play as well as the other high-
class players.

Proposal:

Stick to the Status Quo that English Premier League should not limit the number of foreign
players per team. By agreeing with our proposal, the club will have a higher opportunity to be
the winner of the competition, brings the good name of the club, and make the fans proud
because of the quality of playing football game.

Arguments:

 It brings opportunities to other country with talented player at youth level to join the
big name football club, also increasing the power of the English football team.
For example, from poverty countries such as Nigeria or other countries such as South
Africa or South Korea to join at a high-level league. They bring their country’s good
name to play and if they win, it will bring happiness and fortune for their country. Also,
it will increase the football team’s power. Sharing experiences and knowledge to each
other.

 Exchange of knowledge in playing football skills and tricks.

This brings advantage to both of sides (players and club(s)), because we exchange the
knowledge about football plays. The players will hone their skills more about football
and knowing the tricks that used when playing football. In the end, the players will
become a better player than before and this will increase the chance for the team to

win a competition, also brings the good name of the club because of the members skills
and technics.
 Strengthen the power of the football team so it can against the other top football
teams.
By combining the native and foreign players, it could bring a better, stronger team.
Why? Because from the previous experiences, they can teach to each other the skills
and become a stronger team. Also, picking the best foreign players will increase the
power of the team. It will bring a higher opportunity to win a competition.

Arguments:

 Competition would also improve if foreign players were less common.

At the moment the richest clubs can buy up all the best global players and so dominate
domestic competitions – often no more than two or three teams have a real chance of
winning the big European leagues. This makes tournaments predictable and boring,
while clubs become the playthings of billionaire owners. Forcing clubs to develop home-
grown talent would level the playing field, make money less vital, and give more teams a
chance to compete for top honours.
 This plan would be good for world football, at present poorer nations.
At present poorer nations (e.g. in Africa or South America), or those where football isn’t
as well developed (e.g. Australia, the USA), lose all their best players at an early age to
the rich European leagues. This weakens their own leagues and can lead to the public
losing interest in football. Poor quality games and loss of public support for domestic
clubs also means little money comes into the game from ticket sales, television or
sponsorship, so nothing goes into grounds, training or youth systems. It is also hard to
put a good national side together when the best players hardly ever spend any time in
their own country.
 This plan would be good for club football, to prove that the local team was a real source
of local identity.
This argument brings social effects. If the club proves that the native players can well-
played, the people and fans will be proud of what they have supported all this time and
they will trust that their own nation team football is qualified enough to play at high-
level championships. The fans and people will be there to support the native team. Also,
it brings the good name of the club that the club has successfully proven the real
identity (the aim of the club) that the club can train and produces such a professional
football players.

 The Economic flow of the country will be based on the how good the play in football.
(The football team represents the stock that determines the flow of the economic).
In Europe economic system, football team or club is one of the most important that
influences the flowing of the economic. The fans or the sponsorship supports the team
and if the team wins the game, it will bring lot of fortune too, if the team fails to win, it
will bring misfortune. Also, the higher the rank of the club, the more expensive the
players are. Trading and transferring players is one of the big impacts that effects to the
economic flow system. So, by not limiting the foreign players to play at English Premier
League, it can increase the economic flow into better than before because we’re giving
a chance to the foreign players to prove that they’re qualified enough and appreciated
as an expensive player. This opens the transactions between the clubs. The effect is that
the economic role will be flowed (jalan ekonomi terus berputar) and because of the
good economic state, it will bring welfare to the citizens and nations.
