Passionately Purple to hold annual 5K and 10K

Local Nonprofit Organization will hold its annual run and walk in downtown Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind., March 1, 2018— Passionately Purple: The Sarah Crane Foundation was
founded by the family of Elkhart High School’s Sarah Crane, who passed away in 2013 of
colon cancer. The foundation will be hosting the fifth annual Sarah Strong run and walk
on Saturday, March 10, 2018. All proceeds of the race will go to Passionately Purple to
assist local families affected by cancer. Registration is open now through March 7.

The event will offer a 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Fun Run. Registration fees are $25
for the 5K and 10K, with an additional $2.50 sign up fee. The kids’ run costs $10 race
fee for the kids fun run with a $2 sign up fee. The race will begin at Bicentennial Park
100 N Elkhart Ave. The mile fun run will kick off at 8 a.m., the 10K at 9 a.m. and the 5K
at 9:10 a.m.

that was shown in the initial client meeting, speaking about how Sarah was even more
concerned about her family than herself during the time she was in the hospital. Relate
this to why the organization is so important to the family today, and why they want to
reach out to the community.]”

Former Elkhart High School student Sarah Crane was diagnosed with stage IV colon
cancer. As one of the youngest people to be diagnosed with this disease, the Elkhart
community rallied support for the family. After months of battling, Sarah lost her fight
and passed away on December 7, 2013. The family founded Passionately Purple: The
Sarah Crane Foundation to give back to the Elkhart community who supported them
through Sarah’s fight, thus honoring Sarah’s legacy. The Foundation’s goal is to support,
empower and build community around families affected by cancer.
