SERVICING STANADYNE DE10 FUEL INJECTION PUMPS

4.5 & 6.8 L Diesel Engines

Information:
Service of the Stanadyne DE10 fuel injection
pumps is now available to John Deere
Dealers. Service technicians may perform
limited repairs to the fuel injection pump
while in warranty and out of warranty.
Water and Debris Contamination
When diagnosing a fuel injection pump,
inspect the pump for water contamination
with the following steps:
1. Remove the timing pin hole plug (A). Timing Pin Hole Plug
Drain fuel from pump into a clean
container and inspect for water and
debris. Inspect timing pin hole for rust
and contamination.
2. Remove the inlet fitting (B) and inspect
fitting and bore for rust and
contamination. Remove inlet fuel screen
(C) and inspect.
Parts:
The following Stanadyne DE10 Fuel Inlet Fuel Screen

Additional Information:
Further examples of water contamination
are illustrated. Areas to look for rust
deposits and/or contamination particles
are:
• Timing access bore.
• Timing access hole plug.
• Inlet fitting

Note: Thoroughly clean injection pump Timing Pin Hole Bore

and surrounding area prior to performing
any service to the fuel injection pump and
its components.

Replacing Temperature Sensor

When servicing the temperature sensor
(D) (kit RE521822), disconnect wire
connector. Remove temperature sensor
and O-ring. Install new O-ring on
replacement sensor and install. Tighten
to specification and reconnect wires.

Replacing Housing Pressure Regulator
and Fuel Inlet Connector Note: Pumps that have been exposed to these
To replace the housing pressure regulator types of contamination will not be considered
(E) and fuel inlet connector (B) (kit for warranty.
RE521823), disconnect the fuel supply
and return lines from the inlet connector
and housing pressure regulator. Remove
the housing pressure regulator and fuel
inlet connector. Install O-rings on new
fuel inlet connector and housing pressure
regulator. Install into pump housing and
tighten to specification.

Replacing Timing Pin Hole Plug

Loosen and remove the timing pin hole
plug (A). Using kit RE521824, fit new O-
ring onto plug and install the plug,
tightening it to specification. Stanadyne DE10 Fuel Injection Pump
