ART IS…

➢ By definition, all art is the expression of emotion and imagination. It

begins with a concept or idea and blooms in the artist’s mind.

➢ It is not an expression of technology which helps physical comfort, i.e.

civil engineering, carpentry, welding

➢ It is an expression of emotional comfort, an outlet for emotions on a

much more physical plane, i.e. mime, street plays for a social issue or a
calm sunset for relaxing the mind

ARCHITECTURE VS ARTS

• Architecture is the conscious creation of utilitarian spaces

constructed from materials in such a way that the whole is both
technically and aesthetically satisfying
• Deriving meaning from the space or imparting meaning
• Through the visual appeal, creating a connection or communication
between the space and society
• While through technology, shelter can be built, what about beauty?
