What comes out in your mind when we say the “IT” and “Security”. For me, IT is all about DATA. How it
flows through systems and processes and the word Security. From the word itself, security or in short the
word “secure” combined with. It forms a word the means of security for data and information.

For some, Security in your desktops and laptops are anti-viruses and firewall but no, it’s not. According to
an article that I’ve read it’s only the first line of defense a gadget or a computer device can ever have
because the second one is a system/service that secures an account and authenticates the user. The
hardware authentication token and for mobile is the mobile phone two-factor authenticator introduced by
online gaming company. But like they always say, the bigger you are, the more of an attack surface you
present to attackers. Just like what a speaker on our seminar says that we Filipinos has this open culture,
like information about yourself is exposed by ourselves” the closest example of it is in our profile pages in
social networking sites like birthdays and etc.

Lastly, passwords are not as secured as we think of it. In the past few years alone, we have these attacks
within some sites that have been penetrated and one of them is the attack that to the extent even individual
accounts were compromised leaving user information exposed including encrypted and decrypted
passwords. Now let’s just leave in this way, as a programmer myself I have and will learn some taboos, and
other bad things either hacking or cracking using a computer but the thing is, these learning are not bad at
all. What is bad and legally wrong is what do we do using this things.
