    ACUTE PANCREATITIS

    DIAGNOSIS

    RANSON’S CRITERIA
    On admission Within 48 hours
    Age > 55 years Hematocrit decrease by > 10%
    WBC > 16,000 mm3 BUN increase > 5 mg/dL
    LDH > 350 IU/L Arterial PO2 < 60 mmHg
    Glucose > 200mg/dL (10mmol/L) Serum Calcium < 2mmol/L
    AST > 250 IU/L Base deficit > 4 mEq/L
    Estimated fluid sequestration > 6L

    Disease is severe if 3 or more criteria are present

    SCORING
    0-2 2%

    3-4 15%
    5-6 40%
    7-8 100%
