Carlos Walter is a brazilian guitarist born in Uberaba (Minas Gerais, Brazil) who began musical studies with his
father Alvaro Walter and teachers Sérgio Ramos and Olegário Bandeira.
He’s a member of the Ordem dos Músicos do Brasil (OMB), União Brasileira de Compositores (UBC), Clube do
Choro de Belo Horizonte and author of the book O violão e as linguagens violonísticas do choro (The acoustic guitar
and the guitarist language of Choro), published by the Clube de Autores.
He has master's degree from Fundação Mineira de Educação e Cultura (FUMEC), gives workshops guitar and
acts in individual and collective works with the saxophonist Alvaro Walter, guitarists Sergio Ramos (Duo Mel), Sílvio
Carlos (13 Cordas), multinstrumentist Marcelo Jiran, mandolinist Marcos Frederico, among others. He played with
Aurélie Tyszblat, Dado Prates, Ian Guest, Gabriel Grossi, Hamilton de Holanda, Henrique Cazes, Izaías de Almeida, Maria
Inês Guimarães, Nicolas Krassik, Paulinho Pedra Azul, Silvério Pontes, Toninho Ramos, Verioca Lherm, Zé da Velha and
Yamandu Costa.
Representing brazilian music, he performed in the following international events: I Semana de Belo Horizonte
en Buenos Aires (2008), VI Festival du Choro de Paris (2010), 16ª Cumbre de Mercociudades (Montevideo, 2011), Portes
ouvertes 2012-2013 du Club du Choro de Paris (2012) and 8º Festival Internacional de Violão de Belo Horizonte (2015).
He was awarded in exchange programs of the Ministério da Cultura do Brasil (MinC, 2010) and Música Minas
(2012). Recently, was a semifinalist of XV BDMG Instrumental (2015 e 2018) and chosen by judges of the Novas #2
project: selection of pieces for CD and digital album of scores, organized by Elodie Bouny with a collaboration of Fábio
Zanon, Marco Pereira and Sérgio Assad (2014). In 2015 he released the CD and songbook Calendar of Affection (Fetus):
suite for solo guitar with nine movements for the months of pregnancy, which received an honorable mention and did
appear on the list of best instrumentalist of brazilian music award best of 2015 (Prêmio Melhores da Música
Brasileira). One of the curators Sons da Cidade, Belo Horizonte International Guitar Show, a project carried out in
partnership with Fernando Chagas and the Abrapalavra Institute through PBH/Belotur resources. His career as a
performer, composer and arranger is recorded on videos and CDs.
