The seven wonders of the World

The buildings known as "the seven wonders of the modern world" are the winners of a competition
held by the company "New Open World Corporation". They are a set of amazing buildings.

There were 78 finalists and only 7 winners which are known as the new wonders of the modern
world. The results were published on July 7, 2007 in Portugal, and the list of "The Seven Wonders of
the World" was composed of:

Chichen Itza,
The statue of Christ the Redeemer,
Macchu Picchu,
The Colosseum in Rome,
The Taj Mahal,
The Great Wall of China,
The City of Petra.
Chichen Itza. One of the wonders of this temple is the phenomenon that occurs during the solar
equinox summer and autumn, where the 9 platforms of the temple project seven inverted triangles,
they form a snake that descends from the top of the temple.

The statue of Christ the Redeemer, or also known as Christ of Corcovado is a large statue of Christ
of Nazareth, at the top of the hill Corcovado, standing with open arms and looking towards the city
and the port of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Machu Picchu is the name given to an ancient Inca village, built in the mid fifteenth century.

It is believed that Machu Picchu was one of the many residences rest of the first Inca emperor
Pachacutec, although their ceremonial character and some of the best buildings in the city, one
might consider that it was actually a religious sanctuary.

The Roman Colosseum, built in the first century in the centre of Rome, is an amphitheatre of the
Roman Empire. In The Colosseum in Rome, there were fights between gladiators, among beasts and
some other public spectacles.

The Taj Mahal, built from 1631-1654, is a set of buildings located in Agra, a city in the country of
India. Built by Shah Jahan, emperor Mongolian.

The Taj Mahal was built in honor of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their
14th child. It is the most beautiful mausoleum in the world, covered with white marble and
decorated in different parts with precious stones from around the world ... and today represents
perhaps the greatest construction made out of love for a woman.

The Great Wall of China is a Chinese fortification built to protect the Chinese Empire from attacks
by the Xiongnu nomads of Mongolia and Manchuria.

When the Chinese Wall was used for the purpose for which it was designed and built, was guarded
by up to 1 million soldiers.
In its construction, about 10 million people died, being considered by some people, the world's
largest cemetery, the bodies were buried in the wall.

Petra, built in the 7th century is a city of stone, literally. The city was excavated and carved in stone,
it was founded by the Edomites and the city is located in the Arava Valley in Jordan.

It was once a major city. Met routes silk, incense and spices connecting southern Arabia, China and
India with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.
