Jago Grahak Jago ( "Wake Up Consumer Wake Up") is a consumer awareness programme from
Ministry of Consumer Affairs, and Public Distribution, Government of India
As part of this initiative, the government has used channels to create consumer awareness through
print media advertisements, audio campaigns and video campaigns for consumer information and
education about initiatives like Insurance Ombudsman channel. This program will help the Indian
consumers know about their rights.

2. The main features of the Programme Jago Grahak Jago


Jago Grahak Jago" is a publicity campaign undertaken by the government to inform the
common man about his rights as a consumer. The campaign specially targets the remote and
rural areas. It has been widely publicized through print and visual media. Consumers form the
largest economic group in India.
3. Why is the slogan Jago Grahak Jago used?
The slogan 'Jago Grahak Jago' has now become a household name as a result of the publicity
campaign undertaken in the last 5 years. Through the increased thrust on consumer awareness
in the XIth Five Year Plan, the Government has endeavoured to inform the common man of his
rights as a consumer.
