MELTED CRAYONS EXPERIMENT

THE PROBLEM
Can heat melt crayons?

OBJECTIVES
 To be able to melt crayons using heat
 To be able to turn solid into liquid

HYPOTHESIS
The crayons will melt after applying heat.

EXPERIMENTATION

Materials Needed:

 Canvass (12x12x12)
 Broken Crayons
 Used newspaper to protect the floor
 Glue
 Hairdryer

Directions:

1. First, place the used newspapers on the working area.

2. Put the canvass on top of the old newspapers.
3. Remove the crayon wrappers and break up the crayons into smaller sizes so
they are easier to melt.
4. Line up the crayons on the canvass.
5. Glue the crayon pieces once the crayons are laid out on the canvass. Make sure
the glue is dried before attempting to apply heat to melt the crayons.
6. Apply heat to the crayons by using the hair dryer.
7. Wait for the crayons to melt.

CONCLUSION

Crayons are made of wax which easily melt when exposed to heat. Once heated, the
crayons transform from their solid state into a liquid state. This process is called melting.
