ACTIVITY 1

INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. Two players cross court
from each other on
opposite sides of the net.
2. One player initiates drill
with a down ball to their
partner.
3. Partner must pass to self,
set to self, and down the

INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. Cardio warm up for teams
with large numbers.
2. Three players starting at the
ten foot line coach tossing
volleyballs into play
3. Three lines at the end line
waiting to get tagged into
play.
Warm-up 4. Coach enters a free ball or
Tag team a down ball to alternating
sides of the court.
5. Player pass, set and tip ball
over the net into the ten
foot line area.
6. After contact is made,
player must run back to
their end line and tag a
teammate to enter the
game.
7. Only three players are
allowed inside the ten foot

towards the ball, using
good communication skills.

ACTIVITY 3
INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. This drill will focus on all
necessary footwork to be a
middle hitter and blocker.
2. Two lines, one on each side
of the court in the left front
position.
3. Teacher will need to
demonstrate and call out
Warm-up directions until all players

routine.
4. Starting position
a) Shuffle into hitting
position
b) Approach the net for
a hit
c) Block jump
d) Crossover step outside
and block again
e) Transition off the net
f) Approach the net for
a hit
g) Go to the end of the
line
5. Make sure the players are
using the correct foot on
the cross over step
Variation
• Only use one side of
the net and put one or
two blockers on the
other side of the net to
practice fronting the
hitter.

ACTIVITY 4
INSTRUCTIONS DIAGRAM
1. Basic warm up drill for
players to learn ball control
while passing.
2. Players make a circle with
plenty of space between
each player.
3. Teacher can be the
‘counter’ who is in the
Warm-up middle of the circle. They

passing players to pass the ball to.
4. The counter tosses the ball to a
player, that player passes is right
back to the counter who then
passes it to another player in the
circle.
5. It should keep going passer to
counter, passer to counter until
the ball hits the ground.
6. The counter is counting how many
passes in a row the team can get.
7. When the ball hits the ground the
counter starts over at zero.
8. The counter is allowed to use the
set (overhead pass), tip, anything
they need to keep the ball in
play.
9. Make sure students are
calling for the ball

• Use letters of the
alphabet instead of
counting by numbers.
