Being A Celebrity Is Not Always Rewarding

A celebrity is someone widely famous, usually in the entertainment industry, due to their
exposure to the media. They tend to be pressured to be constantly taking care of their image so
as not to show their flaws, and portray themselves as perfect beings to the public eye, which is
the very reason why scandals arise when they do something "wrong" or out of the ordinary.
Some problems that come with fame are related with scandals, cyberbullying, kidnappings,
extortion, threats, ill-intentioned hatred, potential mental illnesses, self-esteem issues, among
others. Out of all these, there is a strong relation between depression, low self-esteem,
cyberbullying and ill-intentioned, which are all linked to the negative messages and comments
that celebrities can receive from both fans and haters in response to every single thing they do,
more so in Eastern cultures, where people tend to be harsher with others regarding beauty
standards.
A recent example of this is Sulli's case: she was a prominent figure in the k-pop industry who
quickly rose to fame in 2009 with the k-pop group f(x), then left it in 2014 to pursue an acting
career, until she took her life on October 14th, 2019 in Seongnam, South Korea. The media
reported that she had been suffering depression for a while due to the several hateful comments
she was receiving on social media, and SM Entertainment, the talent agency that represented
her, neglected her mental health and did not try to counteract or eliminate the hate messages
thrown at her. With this, it can be pointed out that celebrities do not always count with their fans
and/or agencies' support.
Also, another problem celebrities have to deal with are scandals. Any media, be it a magazine
or a television show, can and will take any carelessness a celebrity has in order to try and be
the first to leak the "news" and get the public's attention to get more sales or viewers, thus
making more money out of it, regardless of the harm they might be doing to the person's image
or reputation in the process.
In conclusion, being a celebrity is not exactly an easy task due to the consequences it brings to
have such a public life, which demands maintaining a good image and working hard to have
some influence, and it all can be affected by the smallest oversights. In addition, living in constant
social pressure makes these people susceptible to mental illnessess, depression being the most
common. And for all the reasons above, it must be said that everyone should be more sensitive
with celebrities, whether we like them or not, because they are like any other human being: they
can feel and suffer just like everyone else, and despite what is shown to the public, they are not
perfect nor immune to destructive criticism. So, if you're not a fan, leave them alone, and if you
are a fan, show your support to help them overcome the negatives.

5. Write a reflection of 3 paragraphs (introduction, development, conclusion):

My Experience as a Senior in High School
Education is something basic for the development of the human being; It starts from birth, being
taught by our parents who leave our education to the teachers when we are old enough to attend
a school. The teachings are found in any aspect of life, from a small observation in what others
do, to a class taught by a teacher. Moreover, it is for these same reasons that I affirm that in this
year I have learned more than what I have done in my whole life, and I am not only talking about
the academic field.
Being "senior" really did not influence me to develop as a person, but it did make me observe in
others what I never wanted for myself. Likewise, it made me feel a little identified in a large
group, and therefore, I began to notice or relate to people I did not even know existed in these
5 years of school stay. Although as a senior the activity that I liked most was the retreat, and
although it was completely ruined at the end of it, it does not mean that I did not enjoy everything
that has been done.
In conclusion, the activities that I have done and seen as a senior have helped me to find myself
and define how I want to be and what I want to be. It also helped me to get to know the teachers
that accompany the whole generation a little more.
6. Write a letter to your classmates as you approach graduation.
I have been with almost all of you since the beginning of our high school and I know that I did
not get to know almost anyone, but do not blame me, before I had no space in my mind and
heart for more than five people.
I know that this year I did not try to make new friends or even interact with someone other than
Naomi, but I do not regret it, you all already have your groups of friends and being like a third
wheel is not pleasant.
This year has not been the best for me speaking academically, but at least I thank you for not
making it so boring, I had a lot of fun (not only for you) spending my last year here although
among my plans was not the fact of continuing in this school .
I believe that what I learned most was that not everything can be done even if you put too much
effort into it, and in the same way, several things can be achieved even if you do not put much
effort into doing them.
I know that none of us knows what the future will prepare for us, but with all my heart I hope we
can meet our goals and be happy from the heart.
