On my way to class the strangest thing happened to me. I ran into a wall and all of my notes for today's lesson went everywhere!! Not
only did I lose my papers, but I cant seem to remember what I was going to teach! I need you to help me. I am going to split you into 3
groups and I need each of you to investigate a topic and make a powerpoint to see if that will jog my memory! Your job today is
to investigate each branch of the government and create a 5 slide power point. By seeing pictures and hearing your background
information, I'm sure my memory can be jogged and our lesson can continue.

Students will learn about the Branches of Government through different online sources. Students will use videos, games, quizzes and
more online resources to learn about the branch they were assigned in many different ways. Students will create a powerpoint
presentation to showcase their findings and present it to the class and myself to help "jog" my memory.

In this lesson you will: 1. Split into 3 groups    - Group 1: Legislative    - Group 2: Executive
  - Group 3: Judicial 2. After you are in your groups you will go to each of the links below. There are games, quizzes,
audio, pictures, videos, and much more information on these sites. You will write down facts YOU think are important.
  - Teacher note: Think of the W's, Who, What, When, and
Where             - Who: Who is in this branch of government?
(President, Vice President, Congressmen/women...)
   - What: What does this branch of government do? (Write bills, pass laws,
...)              - When: When did this branch of
government start? (When is it's
'birthday')              - Where: Where is this
branch of government? (White House, Pentagon, ...) 3. After you have done your investigation, you will compare notes with
your group. There you will determine what the most important facts are. *Remember you are jogging my memory, I only need the
most important facts*. 4. After you have decided the most important information, you will create 1 power point slide. Your
power point must have 5 slides, and a picture on each slide. Your slides must have the following:    - Slide 1: Branch of
Government name, and all the people in your group    - Slide 2-6: 'Meat" of your assignment; your who, what, when,
where    - Slide 7: Reference slide: include the links you used here. 5. Have fun! Use these links (you can
use other links as well): https://jr.brainpop.com/socialstudies/government/branchesofgovernment/https://www.usa.gov/branches-

You will be graded on your knowledge by your power point presentation. You must include your W's accurately (Who, What, When,
Where), in order to receive full credit. Each member of your group will do a peer evaluation and submit their notes after presenting.
Everyone in your group must speak at least ONE time.

At the end of this lesson, students will know about the 3 different branches of government. They will visit each source provided to
learn about the branches through videos, audio, pictures, games, and much more. Students will then create a power point
presentation about what they learned and present it to the class.

This webquest is about teaching students about the Branches of Government. It should take about 20-30 minutes to complete, but the
whole activity would take about an hour. Have fun with this activity; you can provide your own links or more to the lesson.
