SITE VISIT REPORT – 8th February 2017

Jagdeep Singh and I visited the Clover Highlands site on the 8th of February. While Jagdeep
made the rounds with Vincent, I went with Anthony to make the purchases for the In-house
Nursery:

1. Took an inventory of the insecticides and fertilizers at the Society’s Horticulture store
room.
2. The workers (3 male and 1 female) were present at the site with the Garden
Supervisor, Mr. Vincent.
3. Irrigation of the bougainvillea planted at the hilltop near Block 27 had been done as
instructed.
4. There are several dried portions of the Wedelia plants in the planters near the
building blocks.
5. Nursery was set up and the first batch of cuttings were taken and put in for rooting.
6. The Tecoma hedge at the entrance was not flowering, so we checked that out.

We would suggest the following corrective actions to be put in place as soon as possible
to ensure smooth operations and successful implementation of the action items:

1. Explained the uses of the various insecticides and fertilizers to Vincent:

a. The Chlorpyrifos powder is an insecticide
b. The Carzim is a fungicide
c. Foliar fertilizer for the flowering plants, especially roses
d. Humico is a soil supplement, but can be used as a foliar spray as well
e. Agricultural grade 19:19:19 (dirty white granules) is a fertilizer
f. Keradix is a rooting hormone
2. Now that the team has stabilised, they have been assigned the following jobs:
a. Anant, the main gardener will be responsible for all the major pruning and
maintenance. He will also be medicining and fertigating the plants as and when
instructed.
b. Geetabai, has been instructed to carry out the regular weeding and take at
least 2 trays of cuttings on a regular basis. She will be responsible for the
In-house Nursery.
c. Nitin Waghmare and Nitin Kamble will be responsible for the watering.
d. Vincent, the Garden Supervisor will be responsible to ensure that the team
executes the assigned jobs, but needs to have the authority to assign any
emergency tasks to any of the team members.
3. Now that the bougainvillea have stabilised, the watering can be done every alternate
day.
4. The dried portions of the Wedelia plants in the planters near the building blocks need
to be trimmed.
5. The cuttings put in for rooting needs to be regularly watered with the watering can
ONLY to keep the coco-peat moist and prevent the wilting of the cuttings.
6. The Tecoma hedge near the entrance should not be pruned until further notice.

Thanks!
