Safety Check List

Emergency preparedness
 Site Safety Rules communicated. PPE issued and worn on site?
 Evacuation routes and Assembly Points visible?
 All fire doors accessible, closed and unlocked?
 First Aid team and Fire Team identifiable on each shift?
 All fire extinguishers clearly marked and unobstructed?
Hazard communication
 Chemical containers properly labeled and hazard warnings in place?
 Noticeboard with current Coats Safety Policy and site safety
statistics?
Housekeeping
 Stairways, aisles and walkways adequately lit and clear of hazards?
 Housekeeping in order ‘place for everything, everything in its place’?
Electrical
 Electrical panels locked with a key kept by Engineering?
 Insulating mats on floor in front of electrical panels?
Machinery
 Dyeing machines in good condition and no leaks?
 Facilities in place for quick flushing of eyes/body where
corrosive materials in use?
 Do all machines have an ‘Emergency Stop’ button within reach?
 Are all rotating parts, with the exception of spindles, guarded?
Warehouse
 All racking securely bolted to the floor with all bolts in use?
 Appropriate lighting positioned above aisles and passageways?
 All material stored at least 1m below sprinkler heads?
 Items stored safely, not possible to fall and cause injury below?
 Forklift/picker in good condition and driven safely wearing seatbelt?
