1. What’s is Aquator?
Aquator (AQ) is a water supply network application that use the Hardy Cross Method or junction method. It
works in either loop system, branched system or both system.

i) Branched System
 Junction equation
 Qin - Qout = Qe
 Qin = Inflow
 Qout = Outflow
 Qe =External flow into the system
Figure 1.1: Branched system sketch.

ii) Looped System

 Hardy cross method.

 Consist of numerous pipes connected in a complex
manner with many entry and withdrawal point.
 A complex set of pipe in parallel.

Figure 1.2: Looped system sketch.

Currently the application is analysed by Hazen Williams’s equation. The working units in AQ are SI or imperial
unit. Therefore, user has the flexibility on data input.

9.1 How to Get the Pressure Head for AQ?

ODL=83.79 m , GL=23.5 m

Pressure Head = 83.79 – 23.5

= 60.29 m

Figure 4.1: Tapping plan

To add tapping pressure head, Original Datum Level (ODL) must be minus with Ground Level (GL).
It is because, inside AQ calculation, application will plus with GL for pressure head.

10. Aquator Pipe

The selection of pipe diameter depend on the following general factors;
a) For gravity system, the different in elevation between the source and the point of discharge.
b) The major frictional losses in transmission, distribution and reticulation pipelines caused by pipe.
c) The minor frictional losses in transmission, distribution and reticulation pipeline through valves and
fitting.

Using Design Mode as Auto, AQ will determine the diameter of pipe. However, user still can changed it
manually (Refer topic 8.3).

Using Design Mode as Manual, user need to determine your own the diameter to use.
