LEGENDARY PUTERI GUNUNG LEDANG

A Hopeful Dream
The princess of Majapahit wish to meet the person who dearly to her heart very
much. To achieve her desire she willing to left her hardship and homeland. She forced
to marry someone. So she left the palace. She planned to come Malacca and meet
the handsome warrior Laksamana Hang Tuah. She decided Laksamana Hang Tuah
perfect for her. Her loyal companions not sure whether Hang Tuah felt same like the
princess. It’s a long journey and they had not reach the Malacca yet. She continued
with the hope of meeting Laksamana Hang Tuah but she don’t know where he lived.
Princess reached Malacca and ask a man about Laksamana Hang Tuah. The man
said it’s very far and draw a direction for her. They continues the journey with excited.
After few days and nights she meet an old woman and gets the information about
Laksamana and and also about Sultan Malacca named Sultan Mahmud Syah. The old
woman adviced princess to be careful seems she look beautiful and sultan will falls for
her. Old woman said sultan will even use force to get what he wants. Princess covered
her face with batik cloth and entered the palace. One of the man at palace informed
sultan that there is a girl with covered face come to meet him. Sultan eagerly want to
meet her but princess and his companions disappeared. Princess decided to go and
look for the old woman again. Nenek felt uneasy when see the princess. They seeks
nenek help and nenek adviced them to hide at Gunung Ledang. While people from
palace try to find the princess. After few days they reached Gunung Ledang and find
a safe place to stay. After a lot of efforts waste in finding princess Sultan seeks
Laksamana Hang Tuah’s help to search the princess. Laksamana and his friend
Mamat continued searching the princess. Laksamana had a dream about a beautiful
girl at Gunung Ledang and the next day headed towards Gunung Ledang. Laksamana
finds about the girl and went back to palace to inform sultan. He informed sultan that
the girl might be a princess and he needs to do special arrangements to invite her to
palace. After several days, the delegation reached Gunung Ledang. Princess was
aware that the delegation had arrived. She said to nenek she won’t accept any
proposal except Hang Tuah. She felt sad. Nenek help princess and informed the
Mamat about princess request. First request to build a bridge, one is gold and another
is silver from his palace to gunung ledang. Second request are a tray full of mosquito
hearts, acupful of gem hearts and an earthen jar full areca nut juice. Third is an earthen
jar full of maidens tears and last acupful of blood of sultan own son. Mamat inform the
demands and Laksamana feel unrealistic. Laksamana ask Mamat and others to
returned to palace. He wants to go away far as he failed to fulfill sultan wish. Sultan
Mahmud was shocked about the demands but he still work hard to fulfill it. People of
Malacca suffered for months because of requests. The princess came to know sultan
torture. She use nenek mystic power and entered sultan private chamber. Princess
forced sultan to fulfill her last demand with his son blood. Sultan couldn’t kill his son.
So she laughted and ask sultan to drop his wish to marry her. He was frustrated and
unable to marry Puteri Gunung Ledang.
