- unravelling the
experience of FIRE

In order to establish the relation between

HUMAN and FIRE through Architecture, exploring
the possibilities of fire and its role in cultural,
social, spiritual, biological and emotional values
of human was essential. The understanding of its
relation with human life through birth and death
helps in converting these metaphysical attributes
into Architecture. The intention was to create an
integrated and soulful experience of fire, by
giving the form to the formless.
The idea of emphasizing fire as another natural
entity which is considered as the form of purity
and the key to attaining eternity.

includes residences, various small scale industries
and majorly software and service sectors. the
intention is to activate dead urban spaces,
documentation and urban study of the region,

- a sneak peek
of ideal city in 5026

next 21st century has led to the case of increased

exploitation of our canvas by the discretionary
acts of the singular human species. Age of
sustainability and smart development has
reached the height of all. Despite sustenance as
the core element of progress humans have never
considered the environment inclusive of other
organisms. Carbon footprint reduction as the
policy and constant sustenance for revival of
resources has only prolonged our survival
expectancy but not improved its status.

- the social
awareness

Lakes are abundant in number and gradually

falling prey to the effects of urbanisation.
Environmental Activism can save such lakes. The
city grew between the ridges and creeks that
latticed at the mouth of the coast. the pockets of
water that pooled around the course of river
were soon neglected, ignorant of its relevance.
Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu, the fourth
largest metropolis in India located on the
Coromandal coast of Bay of Bengal. The
Chennai city has a population of Four million, Six
hundred Eighty-one thousand, Eightyseven
(approx). Urbanization in Chennai city takes
place rapidly in southern suburban areas,
particularly in infrastructure development, sitting
of software parks, medium scale industries and
laying of major road networks. However, time
deficiencies in regulation of development
process caused further degradation of the
environment and pose concerns for water quality
and community health.
The intention is
to bring people together from varied
backgrounds and create a new dialogue on
water and rivers, by changing mindsets and
encourage action for change.

We have observed the various stepwells that are integral to our

heritage. Some are relatively better preserved, but there is still
scope for improvement. Others are inhabited and used in ways
that is different from the original function of the stepwell and some
are in absolute shambles. This leaves us all with important questions
regarding the conservation and heritage of these stepwells for the
future.........
