WARJO CAFÉ

Warjo Café is a favorite hangout place for me and my friends. It is a beach café in the city of
Balikpapan, a port city on the island of Borneo, in Indonesia, which is known for beaches
such as white-sand Kemala Beach.

With the sagebrush, chattering birds, wind, herons, various shells, and a fantastic view of
Kemala Beach, Warjo Café is at once ordinary and extraordinary. Being there brings you into
another state, in which you want to introspect, be calm, and be positive. In clear daylight,
you can enjoy sea view, the waves crashed and danced along the shore, moving up and
down in a graceful and gentle rhythm like they were dancing. whilst in the afternoon, you
can enjoy nice sunset, filled the entire sky with the deep color of rubies, setting the clouds
ablaze. Warm orange and yellow-pomegranate furniture, sunny-colored napkins and
curtains, country-style hard wooden tables and stools at the bar—everything was solid and
comfortable about the place.

In high school, I was a very social person and I did have so many friends. That being said, I
would like to talk about my best friends, Victoria, Jayden and Chris. I am so lucky to have
them, without them I would not be as happy as I am now. I have known Victoria for my
whole life. We are neighbors so I see her often. Victoria is small and quite slim. She has an
oval face with coal black eyes and a big mouth. She has long brown curly hair. She is indeed
beautiful, especially when she smiles. She always radiates a strong, youthful innocence, yet
balanced it with a sort of "old soul" wisdom. She always brings out the best in me by being
friendly, nice, and open. Right now she is studying English and also knows Arabic and
Mandarin. I want to be as clever as she is. While Jayden is an athletic person and he is tall.
He has a heart-shaped visage, dark brown eyes and short fair hair. He’s good-temperate,
polite and happy. He is gentle but strong. He takes part in all sports, scout, trekking and
mountaineering activities. He has a good heart. He is truthful, honest and obedient. He
keeps me away from bad company. He also plays the guitar, and he makes his parents very
proud of him. Overall an interesting person. Last but not least, a medical student named
Chris. He comes from an educated family. His father is a neurosurgeon and his mother is a
school principal. He is punctual, well-educated, and has good manners, a bit shy. He is really
hard working. He always does his homework. He is also well-dressed and well-behaved. All
teachers have a high opinion of him. He secures good marks and is usually top of his class in
examinations. He inspires me to work harder. I am happy to have such a friend. Chris has
chiseled features, nearsighted hazel eyes, and a well-built body. He can play tennis and
basketball.
We would eat at a restaurant, diner, or buffet at least once a week, often more than once.
Every time we went anywhere, but it was a challenge for us to find proper food and a nice
atmosphere. Warjo Café was that lucky exception—I loved the place and my friends loved it
too. The café seemed magical and fascinating to me when I first went there, and
surprisingly, the place still fascinates me today. Apart from the house in which I grew up,
Warjo Café is probably one of the dearest places to me in town. I would walk to various
places on the beach and meet interesting people: the mass of sagebrush where the melody
of birds made for a serene scene, and of course the beach itself, which was scattered with
shells, tide pools, crabs, seals, driftwood, remnants of parties, and more.

It seems that Warjo Café is one of those places that no matter how bad you feel, you will
leave feeling soothed and renewed. It is like therapy just to walk around, feel the ionic
breeze of wind, smell the seaweed and moisture, hear the variety of birds singing, listen to
the crashing of moderate waves, witness the sailboats and other boats on the water, see
people enjoying themselves on the beach, and feel the white sand on the soles of your feet,
melding into each other with each step. It is a whole therapeutic package. It will be hard to
ever forget Warjo Café. It is now intertwined in my youth memories. Thus, whenever I visit Warjo
Café, all of these elements rest in my mind and soul. There are other places that stir my imagination
and supply me with sentimental rushes, but Warjo Café is at the top of my list.
