Ashaway Introduces New and Improved UltraKill® 16 Racquetball String
-- Utilizes revolutionary Power Filament Technology™ design for maximum durability, superior
power, and improved tension control
-- Designed for top level players who need durability but do not want to sacrifice power or ball con-
trol
Ashaway Racket Strings has introduced a new and improved version of its popular UltraKill® 16
string for racquetball. Effecting what Ashaway describes as a "revolution in racquetball string tech-
nology," the new UltraKill 16 utilizes a combination of Zyex® filaments and a new Power Filament
Technology™ (PFT™) design. The result is a string that maximizes durability, provides superior
power, and maintains tension better than kindred strings.
Said Ashaway's Steve Crandall: "UltraKill 16 with PFT is a significant advance in string technology
for racquetball that will allow players to push their game to the limit. What we've done with PFT is
create an entirely new surface element of Zyex filaments in the jacket of the string that increases
ball control and spin, and optimizes power. It also enhances loop strength to reduce frame break-
age."
Ashaway has long been a leader in developing racket sport strings based on advanced Zyex
filament technology, which has allowed the company to develop a number of different string pack-
ages, and offer players a significant level of choice in playing characteristics. In UltraKill 16, the
dynamic stiffness of the Zyex filaments increases power and decreases string bed stiffness, while
its superior elongation increases resiliency and ball control.
Designed for professional and top level amateur players who need the durability of a heavy gauge
string to avoid breakage, but do not want to sacrifice power or ball control, the very thin Zyex fila-
ments in the UltraKill 16 jacket also minimize tension loss for more consistent performance. Bright
red in color, UltraKill 16 gauge (1.30 mm) strings are available for all players in 40 ft. sets and 360
ft. reels. Recommended stringing tension is up to 35 lbs.,
but Ashaway suggests using 10-20% less tension than
normally used for standard nylon strings.

Second annual World Tennis Day
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and StarGames announced today that the second an-
nual World Tennis Day will take place on Monday, 3 March 2014.
World Tennis Day will center around a series of high profile special events, produced by Star-
Games, featuring current and former professional players, enhanced by activities generated by
the ITF’s National Associations around the globe to grow tennis participation. In 2014, the number
of cities hosting the special events will double from the inaugural year, with Bangkok and London
joining Hong Kong and New York.
World Tennis Day was staged for the first time in 2013 with 55 nations hosting participation events.
In addition, BNP Paribas Showdown events were held in New York and Hong Kong.
“World Tennis Day proved to be a very successful initiative, using high profile special events to
bring attention to the developmental activities of our member nations on every continent,” said ITF
President Francesco Ricci Bitti. “The enthusiasm and commitment of our National Associations to
World Tennis Day in its first year was inspiring and we expect an even greater take-up in 2014 and
beyond. March 3rd will be an important day in the international tennis calendar with huge focus on
our sport on World Tennis Day.”
“The first year of World Tennis Day really exceeded all our expectations. With two great events,
over 50 nations participating in the programme, television coverage in over 130 countries, and
trending on Twitter, we truly had a worldwide celebration of tennis,” said Jerry Solomon, President
and CEO of StarGames, Inc. “Looking to 2014, with events in Hong Kong, Bangkok, London and
New York, we will be in four of the world’s biggest financial and tourism centres, and anticipate
even more nations to participate in grassroots programmes, giving us a platform for truly bringing
the world together to play tennis.”
In New York, the 2014 BNP Paribas Showdown will once again take place at Madison Square
Garden and be part of the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) Tennis Night in America ini-
tiative. The MSG event will feature Novak Djokovic playing Andy Murray, as well as Bob and Mike
Bryan taking on John and Patrick McEnroe.
Information about the events in Bangkok, Hong Kong and London, including venue, players and
ticket sales, will be released in the coming weeks.

players. These players fall into two categories based on their position on the line at the moment
they hit the ball: “Punchers,” who hit the ball at the top of the bounce while staying behind the line,
and “First Strikers,” who have a forward game, playing the ball on the rise.
“First Strikers” primarily play inside the baseline. They play forward, taking the ball early when it’s
on the rise, and use the speed of their opponent’s ball to generate power. They need a racket that
is both reactive and precise, because they use every corner of the court to overwhelm their oppo-
nent and get the advantage. The Babolat Pure Strike is particularly well suited for them.
“Thanks to a new hybrid frame construction (square and elliptic), the Babolat Pure Strike racket of-
fers more reactivity at ball impact than any other racket in this segment. ‘First Strikers’ will find the
perfect balance between reactivity and precision,” said Gael Moureaux, Babolat rackets product
manager.
To complement the worldwide best-selling racket models — Babolat Pure Drive, Babolat Aeropro
Drive and Babolat Pure Storm — Babolat now offers a new racket with a sleek design: carbon
grey paired with neon red.
With the future in mind, the Babolat Pure Strike integrates technologies developed specifically for
maximizing reactivity and precision.
The Babolat Pure Strike will be available mid-January 2014. For a list of authorized Babolat retail-
ers, please visit Babolat.com

Tennis Europe Junior Masters
The elite Tennis Europe Junior Masters event was held in Reggio Calabria, Italy, from 4-6 October, and
saw new champions crowned in all four categories. Mate Valkusz of Hungary and Ioana Minca from Roma-
nia won the boys’ and girls’ 16 & Under titles respectively, while Italian Samuele Ramazzotti and Russia’s
Evgeniya Levashova won the boys’ and girls’ 14 & Under competitions. Ramazzotti’s presence in the 14 &
Under event final created a buzz of excitement around the Circolo del Tennis ‘Rocco Polimeni’ Club and he
and his Belarussian opponent Jurij Rodionov contested the final in front of a sizeable crowd on the Campo
Centrale. A runner-up at the European Junior Championships in July and winner of the prestigious‘Les Pe-
tits As’ tournament in Tarbes, Ramazzotti was the top seed in his event and prevailed 6-3 6-2 in what was a
high quality encounter and received the biggest cheer of the day.
Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Pat Cash and Ivan Lendl will return to London to recreate two historic Wim-
bledon finals by playing in the World Tennis Day Showdown at Earls Court on 3 March 2014.
The event will form part of a series of World Tennis Day Showdowns, with matches also taking place in
Bangkok, Hong Kong and New York on 3 March.
Cash and Lendl, who faced off in the 1987 Wimbledon final, will open the evening as Lendl tries to avenge
a defeat that handed the Australian his lone Grand Slam title, before Agassi renews his rivalry with Sam-
pras.
“I am looking forward to coming to London to play against Pat next March,” said Lendl, currently coach of
reigning Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. “The London fans have always been knowledgeable about
tennis and, through Andy, I have developed a closer relationship over the past two years so this will be a
special night for me.”

“We are excited to be bringing World Tennis Day to London,” said Jerry Solomon, President and CEO of
StarGames, Inc, the event promoter. “With the rich history of tennis in the UK, an iconic venue in Earls
Court and a field of players that has thrilled the London audience for years, the Showdown should provide
memorable moments for the spectators and make Earls Court the place to be on 3 March.”
Agassi and Sampras played each other 34 times during their professional careers, with Sampras coming
out on top of 20 of those meetings. They twice met at Wimbledon, with Sampras winning both their 1993
final and a quarterfinal clash in 1993.
This clash will come three years after Agassi and Sampras played each other in the BNP Paribas Show-
down event at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York, where Sampras won 63 75.
The inaugural World Tennis Day was held in 2013, and was created as a cooperative venture between the
International Tennis Federation and StarGames to promote participation in the sport through high-profile
Showdown events on the same day as grassroots participation events are held at clubs and courts around
the globe. This year, World Tennis Day saw 55 nations participate by hosting events.

India is the first country where Wimbledon has run an event of this kind outside the UK.
In partnership with the All India Tennis Association (AITA), the Wimbledon Foundation unveiled plans to
increase tennis opportunities for junior players with the establishment of two National 14 and Under events
in Delhi and Mumbai in January 2014, culminating in a Junior Masters tournament in Delhi in April 2014.
The finalists of the Masters will be invited to the UK National Finals held at the All England Club, Wimble-
don, in August 2014.
In addition, the Wimbledon Foundation will stage a series of educational tennis clinics to be given by Dan
Bloxham, Head Coach of the All England Club, which will be held during the January events in Delhi and
Mumbai. Further details will be announced nearer the time.
Philip Brook, Chairman of the All England Club, said: “Launching The Road to Wimbledon in India is a first
for the Wimbledon Foundation and represents an exciting, imaginative and important development. We
are greatly appreciative of the help and organisation of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and we look
forward both to a long and successful partnership, and to welcoming the first finalists to the lawns of the All
England Club at our UK National Finals in August 2014.”
Anil Khanna, President of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) said: “It is with much pleasure that the
AITA have been asked by the Wimbledon Foundation to expand The Road to Wimbledon events in our
country. We are very keen on extending the opportunities for juniors to play tennis and the direct link with
Wimbledon will raise awareness of these opportunities, while at the same time young players will benefit
from the educational clinics given by Dan Bloxham.”

CHALLENGE
THE HAWK-
EYE.
THE HEAD ATP BALL.
In tennis, it’s the ball that makes a shot
count. And the better your control over it,
the higher your chances of scoring. That’s
why the HEAD ATP ball was engineered
not only to be exceptionally durable, but
also to give you so much control and spin,
you’ll never fear a line call challenge again.
Sorry, Hawk-Eye!
