The Theme of “Oval Portrait"

Too big an obsession that ended tragically. In this story told the story behind a
portrait that ended tragically. The portrait was a portrait of a woman with oval gold frame
that was amazing. Behind the portrait was a painful story about the painter who was very
obsessed with painting. He wanted to capture his wife’s beutiful face in a portrait. With an
obsession that was too large, he just focused on painting without regard to his wife who has
become increasingly weak because she sit for weeks as an object of the portrait.
“But at length, as the labour drew nearer to its conclusion, there were admitted
none into the turret; for the painet had grown wild with the ardor of his work, and
turned his eyes from the canvas rarely, even to regard the countenance of his wife”.
(the last pages of “Oval Portrait”).
The painter managed to finish his portrait that was very amazing, but because of his
obsession he lost his beloved wife, his wife died as an object of his portrait.
“And then the brush was given, and then the tint was placed; and, for one , the
painter stood entranced before the work which he had wrough; but in the next, while
he yet gazed, he grew tremulous and very pallid, and aghast, and crying with a loud
voice, “This is indeed Life itself!” turned suddenly to regard his beloved: - She was
dead!” (The last pages of “Oval Portrait”).
