of your friends, a Mr. Travis Jones and a Miss Jennifer Alderson. Your co-operation is highly

Take my advice: Go to your mother as soon as you got this letter and tell her that your brother and I
are on our way to Duprechire. If your mother asks, tell her it is in Germany and that she is not going
to go there. This is an order. TELL HER THAT SHE IS NOT TO GO TO DUPRECHIRE, NO
MATTER HOW MUCH DANGER YOUR BROTHER AND I ARE IN. We are on a rescue mission
to save a certain Jennifer Alderson and Travis Jones. They are your brother’s friends and I suppose
the today’s newspaper headline is “ Two Teenagers Went Missing” with a photo of each of them, is
that correct? I know it is, so tell your mother that.

“I see that your friend, Mr Jades isn’t coming to save you,” Yuri whispered to Jenny and me. I glared
back at him.

“ He will! I know he will!” I snarled.

“ It doesn’t seem to be like so,” Yuri replied smoothly. “ Argus..Vladimir..Would you do the
honour?” he asked to those two bulky men.

“ With pleasure, my lord,” they replied in their husky, menacing voice. Slowly, they were
approaching us, fangs bared. Oh God, what danger have I led Jenny into? I thought desperately.
Eitan, please help us! I pleaded, knowing that he will hear me. Argus and Vladimir were coming
closer to us.

“ Stop! Don’t touch them!” a familiar voice rang through the hall. All heads turned towards the
source and I was very grateful to see that familiar golden-brown hair. It was Eitan.
“ Ah....Mr. Jades, finally!” Yuri cried. “ We have been waiting for you for quite some time now...are
these your friends?” he asked in a honey tone, waving towards us.

“ You’re right...those are my friends,” he replied, slightly panting. “ Leave them alone! It’s me that
you want!” he shouted.

“ Really? But Argus and Vladimir were just about to start a feast...starting with them as their
appetizers...,” Yuri said, smoothing his voice a lot more.

“ Oh...and you’re not going to join them?” Eitan said, walking towards the circle of vampires around
us. “ Tough luck, Yuri...I won’t let that happen!” he said, before attacking Yuri.

“ Stop him!” Yuri cried and a dozen or more vampires prised Eitan of him. His face was covered in
scratches and two tiny and red marks showed that Eitan had apparently tried to bite him. “ That was
very brave of you, son...but don’t you know who I am?!” Yuri snarled, choking Eitan. “ Do you know
who I am?! I’m the King of Duprechire!! The King of the Vampires!! You dare to betray me?! You
dare to try and kill me, your king?!” he spat at Eitan’s face.

“ No...He isn’t betraying his King...in fact, he is serving his King like a loyal servant,” a voice suddenly
said calmly. I turned around and saw, for the first time, Eitan’s father. The supposedly handsome,
mysterious Christopher Jades. His appearance was very astounding. His swift and graceful
movement made me tremble. His figure vibrated with power and aura. No wonder the women back
in Manhattan has been moping over him. If those girls back at school thought Eitan and Danny were
gods, I wonder what they would think about Mr. Jades.

Yuri released Eitan. His face full of mingled fury. His face was also full of something else....fear? His
hands clenched and unclenched as Mr. Jades descended from the stairs gracefully, much more
graceful than Eitan.

“ I see you’ve met my son, Eitan. Tell me what you think about him. My friends think he is a
charming gentleman,” Mr. Jades said, with a smile on his handsome face. “ But of course, those are
humans’ general opinion about him. I’ve never heard any opinion from a vampire before. I think you
would like to be the first, Yuri,” he continued, his voice velvety and soft. Not to mention calm. Even
all of Yuri’s clan was staring, transfixed at Mr. Jades.

“ You!” Yuri snarled. “ How dare you step into my castle! I thought I had banned you out! Banned
you and that stinking mortal wife of yours out!” he shouted, his bloody eyes were blazing with rage
and anger. Hatred was written all over his face. He was crouched so low, it meant he was going to
attack Mr. Jades. I don’t think I would want to know what would happen if he was attacked. I mean,
Yuri is a vampire and Mr. Jades? Well, I suppose I can count him as a human.

“ Apparently you hadn’t banned my son...so, I think that should make me legal to enter this castle of
yours. Or should I say, this castle of mine?” he asked, his eyes lingered on Jenny and me for a few
seconds. His eyes caught the sight of the ropes that were used to bind us together. “ Argus,
Vladimir...I think you should let go of my son...he has immense powers that neither of you will live if
you continue to fight,” he said, not turning his eyes towards those two.

“ Yes, My Lord..,” Argus said.

“ Whatever you say, My Lord,” Vladimir said, bowing his head.

“ What?! Why are you obeying him? You should obey me!” Yuri snarled, his hands flying towards
Argus and Vladimir’s throats.

“ That wouldn’t be necessary, brother,” Mr. Jades said suddenly. The word surprised Jenny and I and
our feelings were reflected back in Eitan’s eyes. “ Killing them wouldn’t be the same for their
loyalties lies with me,” he continued.

“ With you? You, the one who went against father’s wish! You, who married a mortal and had
children with her! You, who thought that this boy has special powers?!” Yuri shrieked. Mr. Jades
stared at Yuri with a smile on his face. More like, a mocking smile.

“ It’s a shame, Yuri that you didn’t try to keep in touch with me...if you had, you would know what
your nephew can do...what power he holds...I would think that you would want him in your clan,”
Mr. Jades said, his eyes piercing into Yuri’s.

“ Father..,” Eitan broke into their conversation. “ What is this all about? I thought you said you never
had a brother. I thought vampires aren’t supposed to breed, unless they mated with a human!” Eitan
said, staring at Yuri. Clearly, his vampire mind is much faster than mine. I didn’t understand a thing
about what they were talking about.

“ Unfortunately, son, mine does. You see, our kind expanded when the first vampire in Germany,
Heinrich Duncanny arrived from France. He married a human, made about 10 children with her, all
of them vampires. The woman died after the 10 th child, as a result of the pregnancy and birthing of
vampires. The children were mated with more humans. And...well, that’s how our kind breed. We
just stop aging, not stop breeding,” Mr. Jades explained, apparently uncomfortable about the
subject.

“ Yes, but unfortunately, my dear nephew, Heinrich Duncanny changed his named after he arrived
here, in Duprechire,” Yuri suddenly said in his honeyed tone.

“ Yuri, no!” Mr. Jades suddenly said but Yuri had already spoken.

“ His new name was Cristofer Jades. Your ancestor..and mine.”

“ So...it means...you and father are really...brothers?” he choked out the words. I turned around and
saw that Jenny’s mouth was hanging open. Well, I didn’t expect that. Yuri, Eitan’s uncle had tried to
kill us. Yuri nodded, apparently solemnly.

“ Your father’s real name is Arturo. Arturo Jades. He changed it to ‘Christopher’ when he moved to
America so that he wouldn’t be related to the horrifying, murderous vampires of Duprechire. Even at
that time, the world was aware that there was a Vampire Kingdom here, in Germany that was led by
the three brothers: Arturo, Yuri and Vladislav. But did they think that it was Duprechire, the land of
beauty and exquisities? No, they didn’t expect it, which was a good sign,” he continued to torture
Eitan’s mind.

“ No...no!” Eitan whispered frantically.

“ Arturo was the one who used to lead the vampires of Duprechire to hunt in other countries,
dearest nephew. Arturo was the one who urged the vampires to prey on humans. But I supposed he
told you that he only feeds on animal blood?” Yuri said, pushing Eitan’s mind to the limit.
 “ That’s a lie!” Mr. Jades shouted in rage. “ Eitan, do not believe him! He is a lying, murderous King!
He is not to be trusted!” Mr. Jades shouted frantically. Eitan looked around to where Jenny and I
were tied. His eyes had a funny look in them.

“ Eitan, no! Remember who you are! Remember your mother and brother! They are both humans!
If you can drink your friends’ blood, what would you do when you are in your mother and brother’s
presence? Would you do it too?” Mr. Jades said, begging Eitan to stop hallucinating.

“ But you drank human blood before,” Eitan suddenly said, his eyes had a mad gleam in them. Yuri
had succeeded in manipulating Eitan’s mind. “ You led those hunts...you killed thousands of innocent
humans,” he said, approaching us. “ What harm will it do if I kill them?” he whispered, body arched,
ready to attack the preys , ready to attack us.
