Activating and configuring the feature

This chapter provides the procedures to operate the feature A over IP . There are t
wo cases of the A over IP configuration. In the first case, TC is located in the
BSS and in the second case, TC is located in the MGW. In both the cases, A over
IP doesn t restrict the use of AoTDM.
Configuring the A over IP, where TC in BSS
Prerequisites
New ETP-A hardware unit is required in TCSM3i or in BSC3i or in both accordi
ng to the AoIP configuration.
New software is required in BSC3i depending on the configuration.
New software is required in ETPC unit in TCSM3i and in BSC3i. There exist di
fferences in the software depending on the location of ETPC unit.
New LAN-interfaces are required in BSC3i and also in ETPC unit of TCSM3i dep
ending on the AoIP configuration.
IP connections to the IP network has to be configured according to the site
specific IP-configuration.
IP address configuration
UDP port allocation for RTP
BSC3i, TCSM3i, MGW and MSS IP-endpoints have to be defined as a part of IP n
etwork configuration for the AoIP.
Before the calls can utilize A-interface over IP, AoIP-feature should be con
figured and activated in following entities, when the configuration with TC in T
CSM3i is taken into use: MGW, MSS, BSC3i and TCSM3i is in use.
ETPC Creation
For the ETPC hardware creation steps, see Creating and Managing BSC Hardware
ETPSIG Creation
For an introduction to ETPSIG interface, see ETPSIG interface
1.
ETPSIG-M interface initiation for ETPC
Before DMX messaging communication between ETP application and DMX application i
s able to work, the operator must do following.
Check if ETPC unit and plug in unit have been created. If not, create these
as per the section ETPC Creation.
Configure the IP for GW BCSU unit and ETP unit with ZQRA, ZQRN and ZQKC MML
commands.
For example,
ZQRA:ETPC,0,0::EL0:;
ZQRA:ETPC,0,0::EL1:;
ZQRN:ETPC,0,0::VLAN602,:"10.125.113.94",24,P,M:;
ZQRA:ETPC,0,0::VLAN605,605,EL0,:;
ZQRN:ETPC,0,0::VLAN605,:"10.125.118.14",24,L,C:;
ZQRA:ETPC,0,0::VLAN603,603,EL1,:;
ZQRN:ETPC,0,0::VLAN603,:"10.125.114.114",24,L,::;
ZQKC:ETPC,0,0:::"10.125.113.1":PHY:;
ZQKC:ETPC,0,0::"10.125.118.166",32:"10.125.114.1":LOG:;
Configure the messaging interface with MML command ZD2C:M
For example,
ZD2C:M:BCSU,0::ETPC,0,0:::;
ETP collects GW BCSU unit and own unit IP addresses via DHCP
2.
ETPSIG-C Interface creation for ETPC
There are two restrictions, which make ETPSIG-C interface creation between Remot
e BSC and ETPC card a little bit complicated. First of all Master BSC does not k
now the GW BSCU addresses of Remote BSC. On the other hand Remote BSC does not k
now IP address of destination ETPC.
ETPC unit is defined as functional unit under Master BSC. The IP address is
created for ETPC, but only Master BSC knows it.
ETPSIG-M creation between Master BSC and ETPC unit is created like normal ET
PSIG-M connection.
ETPSIG-C creation between Master BSC and ETPC unit is created like normal ET
PSIG-C connection, but only one connection is created.
ETPSIG-C creation between Remote BSC and ETPC from Master BSC. Operator must
not give D-channel information for connection that does not exist in this BSC.
Operator gives the address of GW BCSU in MML create command as parameter. The IP
address of ETPC is got from IP management of Master BSC.
ETPSIG-C creation between Remote BSC and ETPC from Remote BSC. Operator give
s the address of ETPC computer unit in MML create command as parameter. The GW B
CSU unit IP address is got from IP management of Remote BSC.

Configuring the A over IP, where TC in MGW
Prerequisites
New ETP-A hardware unit is required in TCSM3i or in BSC3i or in both accordi
ng to the AoIP configuration.
New software is required in BSC3i depending on the configuration.
New software is required in ETPA unit, in TCSM3i and in BSC3i. There might e
xist differences in the software depending on the location of ETPA unit.
New LAN-interfaces are required in BSC3i and also in ETPA unit of TCSM3i dep
ending on the AoIP configuration.
IP connections to the IP network has to be configured according to the site
specific IP-configuration.
IP address configuration

BSC3i, TCSM3i, MGW and MSS IP-endpoints have to be defined as a part of IP n
etwork configuration for AoIP.
Before the calls can utilize the A-interface over IP, configuration with TC
in MGW is taken into use, then the AoIP-feature is configured and activated in M
GW, MSS and BSC3i. Also Packet Abis is activated in BSC3i and in BTS.
ETPA Creation
For the ETPA hardware creation steps, see Creating and Managing BSC Hardware
ETPSIG Creation
1.
ETPSIG-M interface initiation for ETPA
Before DMX messaging communication between ETP application and DMX application i
s able to work, the operator must do following.
Check if ETPA unit and plug in unit have been created. If not, create these
as per the section ETPA Creation.
Configure the IP for GW BCSU unit and ETP unit with ZQRA, ZQRN and ZQKC MML
commands.
For example,
ZQRA:ETPA,0::IL0::;
ZQRA:ETPA,0::IL1::;
ZQRA:ETPA,0::BOND0,IL0,IL1,::UP:;
ZQRN:ETPA,0::BOND0:"10.0.1.26",26,P,IDM:;
ZQRN:ETPA,0::BOND0:"10.0.1.42",26,L,VIC:;
ZQRA:ETPA,0::EL0::UP:;
ZQRA:ETPA,0::EL1::UP:
ZQRN:ETPA,0::EL0,EL1:"10.125.113.71",24,P:;
ZQKC:ETPA,0:::"10.125.113.1":PHY:;
ZQKC:ETPA,0::"10.125.113.32",32:"10.0.1.65":LOG:;
Configure the messaging interface with MML command ZD2C:M
For example,
ZD2C:M:BCSU,0:ETPA,0::;
ETP collects GW BCSU unit and own unit IP addresses via DHCP
2.
ETPSIG-C Interface creation for ETPA
Ensure that ETPSIG-M interface exists for ETPTA unit before establishing the
ETPSIG-C interface. Each BCSU has a direct connection with the ETP unit, so the
re can be multiple ETPSIG-C interfaces for single ETPTA unit.
Create the ETPSIG-C Interface with the MML command ZD2C:C
For example,
ZD2C:C,0:BCSU,0:ETPA,0:;ZD2C:C,0:BCSU,1:ETPA,0:;

Deactivating the A over IP
There are two AoIP configurations where the feature is deactivated by license ex
piration or by the operator:
1.
A over IP configuration, where TC is located in BSS
This feature deactivates itself automatically when the license expires or the fe
ature state is set to OFF. Operator can also deactivate the feature by setting t
he feature state to CONF.
2.
A over IP configuration, where TC is located in MGW
This feature deactivates itself automatically when the license expires or the fe
ature state is set to OFF. Operator can also deactivate the feature by setting t
he feature state to CONF.
