ADJUTANT’S REPORT
by Charles Lewis

“A land without memories is a people without Liberty." – Robert E. Lee

Forty one people signed in at the October meeting.

James Cook opened the meeting with prayer.

Jay Ginn spoke on the history and renovation of the John Ford house, and its ties to the Ford, Rankin, and Ball families. The house is
located in Sandy Hook, MS. It is the oldest frontier-style structure in the Pearl River Valley.

Brandi Gray gave a report on the OCR activities.

Charles Lewis reported on the POW/MIA chair dedication and unveiling at the Jackson, MS VA Hospital.

Butch Kuriger reported on the Governor's ride for Wounded Warriors Mississippi and the Spirit ride (Sept. 29) for the Brandon nursing
home where they participated in fellowship, prayer, and gave out Bibles.

Chris Merck reported on the E.C. meeting. Monuments, Fall Muster, and the Challenge Coins (designed by Cmd. Conor Bond for
fundraising for monuments) were some of the topics of discussion.

Michael Bowling gave a report on the Adopt a Highway trash pickup. It was a hot day, but the work went well, and thanks to Christine
Heathman everyone was well fed. Please consider helping at the next pickup.

A motion was made by Bill Kuriger, second by James Cook, and passed by vote of camp that the waitresses's tips will be added to
your meal ticket.

One of Mr. Robert Williams original art works was on display at the meeting. If you are interested in purchasing a piece of his work
speak to him at an upcoming meeting.

Pass the hat took in $71.00.

Mr. Gary Smith received his membership certificate. Welcome Gary.

Many door prizes were given out at the meeting. Timothy Joseph Cupit won the original $1000.00 Confederate bond for being a paid
member. Congratulations T. J.

Don't forget the ad campaign. As an incentive to sell ads for the newsletter, an AR15 will be given to a lucky person at the May 2020
meeting. For every $50.00 you sale in ads your name will be placed in a drawing for the AR15.

A good time was had by all who attended Fall Muster on October 18-20. Approximately 60 people shot for their choice of a USA, MS
state or Battle flag and a chance to win the $100.00 prize for the best shot of the weekend. We had members from both the SCV and
OCR participating in reenacting and living history. If you have never been to fall muster, you are missing a great event. Make plans to
go next year.

Don't forget the December meeting is our Christmas party. Brandi Gray, Joe Cox, and Lori McDade will be providing the
entertainment. AND with any luck there will be a visit from a very special guest.

October brought three main events for us. We had first an opportunity to donate more food items to the VA Freedom Foods Pantry as
well as Fall Muster, and a headstone/fence dedication in Okolona, MS. The VA Food Pantry was a project this month of the MS
Society and we brought several bags of donated items from our Quarterly Meeting held in September, as well as cash donations. We
barely put a dent in the supply and demand of the VA but we were able to provide greatly needed sustenance to several veterans.

The next event was Beauvoir's Annual Fall Muster where the ladies enjoyed an early afternoon tea, and a very informative talk on
what ladies wore in Pre and Past Civil War Days. After the tea we were invited to help unveil the newest addition to Beauvoir, a
headstone memorial to President Jefferson Davis's dog Traveler who is buried on the grounds. Chapter Member Kay McWilliams read
a beautiful memorial poem to the beloved pet, and a wreath was placed on the headstone by Chapter Member Joy Redwine. VP Charla
Lewis and Chapter Member Susan Jones unveiled the beautiful Memorial and stood in honor as a gun salute was given.

Our next event was the dedication to Col. Jeffery Forrest at the site where he fell in the Battle of Okolona. This was a remembrance
day for Col. Forrest as well as the Confederate Soldiers buried on the grounds in unmarked graves. A new fence was also dedicated
surrounding the marker.

As you can see we have had a very busy but gratifying month. Stay tuned for happenings in November! We will be providing lunch for
the National Guard Armory for Thanksgiving as well as dressing out to ring the bells for the Salvation Army.

See you all at the next meeting! – Brandi Gray, President, MAFOCR
