Observed: Bulletin Board Displays


Location of the School: Cumu, Angadanan, Isabela
Date of Visit: November 6, 2018
In every classrooms there are board displays, one is for health information which is
consist of posters of food pyramid hygienic activities, the other is consist of birthdates
of the students, schedules of cleaners, and the best written works of the students. The
rest of the boards are for the different subjects that are taught in the class which is filled
with colourful pictures and captions. Outside the classrooms, in the frontage of the
school, there is a bulletin board which is for the information of everybody. It is consist
of announcements to teachers and students. The board displays are well constructed and
they are creatively done. It can catch attention and hold interest at the first look and the
contents are all appropriate to the theme of the board, only that a few of the boards have
words that are needed to be arranged properly to avoid confusion to the readers. Most of
the letters are bold enough to be seen at a distance. The uniqueness of the boards is that
they convey the integration of learning.

The messages were all clear, it


is very easy to understand and

color but the borders hold the

Recommendations or Suggestions for Improvement


The display, colors and arrangement of the board was good but in terms of the
content and interaction to the viewers it needs more improvements. The content
and information must be seen in a very good distance. There should be
interactive activities. Students need to be involved in activities because they are
experiencing it on hand thus learning something at the same time.

The main target of the bulletin board was the students. The way it was made, the
colors that are used and the content and information of the board display really
reflected the interest of the students. The bright colors, the fun fonts of the
letters. But at the end of the day everyone has different style and taste and some
may like it and some may not.

Yes it was, the font size of the words was formal enough to be read by the target
audience and the words were also bold enough to be clearly seen. The word used
was appropriate to the level of the students wherein the students who will read it
can understand its thought.
In my opinion, the purpose of the board is to convey information to the students,
such as, information about content of the subjects, proper hygiene and values
information. It also serves as motivation tool for the students to do their best.
And as I look on it, it works for its purpose. By its designs it holds attention, the
content are appropriate that provides learning information, and the board are not
merely filled with written words but also pictures that facilitates easy
understanding.

I suggest making the font size bigger so it can be seen in a great distance so
viewers can easily see the contents and information. Interactive activities are
also great added bonus. Updating the board displays and contents and adding
new things more often would be a great improvement of the board display.

To enhance students participation in learning by using board display.

 The students will be able to create their own notes and quotations that
will motivate themselves and others.
 The students will be motivated and inspired by getting something that
they need to help them throughout the day.
 The students will be able have additional information or learning.

It will consist of positive words like peace, love, kindness and compassion, that
are written in sticky notes that can be taken from the board to keep to keep for
themselves. Also quotations and different guidelines about life and being happy
and doing goodness.

RESOURCEFUL – A board display doesn’t need to be expensive for it to be nice.
Resourcefulness of the teacher may contribute to the beautification of the board. Aside
from that, it may also convey additional information to the audience aside from what is
being written and posted.
CREATIVE – A teacher should be creative so she/ he can create and invent many ideas
for the bulletin board and can make it more attractive and visually appealing.
INFORMATIVE – The teacher should have this skill so the board display cannot just be
beautifully decorated and attractive but also filled with useful information and
knowledge.
IDEALISTIC – For the board display to facilitate learning, the teacher must think of an
idea of what his/ her board display would look like and how will it work for the learning
of the audience. The board must not only be a picture for display to be appreciated but it
must project an appeal to the audience that would motivate them to do something in
order to learn.
OBSERVANT – Assessment is very important in order for the teacher to identify what
is the need of the students. That is why a teacher must develop the assessment skill so
that she/he will have an idea of what type of board display he/ she will make to fill in
the need of the students in terms of learning.

I am somewhat creative and at the same time resourceful. There is a bit of idealistic in
me also. Back when I was in high school that I helped my teachers make our school’s
bulletin board displays. I always choose the colors that we’ll going to use and the design
that we will make. I love cutting out different shapes and letters. Volunteering in
helping my teacher make bulletin boards make me enhance my skill in being artistic and
creative.

I think what I need to develop is having informative skills because I always have a hard
time on focusing on the content and useful information of the board display and I should
also determine the important details that I would put on the bulletin board. To have
informative skills, I should never stop learning, never stop reading and researching
about many things through magazines and internet websites. There is also time to accept
suggestions and criticisms so eventually you will grow and be a better person of
yourself and improve your work.
