AIM:- To study of Canopy architecture of trees.
INTRODUCTION:
In biology, the canopy is the aboveground portion of a plant
community or crop, formed by the collection of individual plant crowns.
In forest ecology, canopy also refers to the upper layer or habitat zone,
formed by mature tree crowns and including other biological organisms
(epiphytes, lianas, arboreal animals, etc.).
Sometimes the term canopy is used to refer to the extent of the outer
layer of leaves of an individual tree or group of trees. Shade
trees normally have a dense canopy that blocks light from lower
growing plants.
It is the stratification of trees, which many mature trees are
differentiated under various heights and controls the temperature the
area.

For an example of archetecturing of the canopy trees, the Avenue trees

are the trees which are grown on the road side. They provide cool air
and shade to the passengers. Avenue trees keep the air fresh, prevent
soil erosion and reduce noise, air and thermal pollution. The greeny of
the avenue trees are attractive and appealing. Also different types of
animals get food and shelter from this avenue trees.
MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:-
Pen, Pencils, thermometers, beakers, water and record notebook.

EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES:-
This experiment is performed on the outdoor and visited at a nearer
forest. Then observed different trees carefully and record the following
information;-
I. Numbers of sorts of trees i.e., stratification.
II. Shape of canopies.
III. Archetecture of trees.
IV. Average height of trees in each storeys.
V. Shape of leaves.
