Q1. What was your primary motivation to learn Data Science?

The motivation came from multiple sources. A tough placement season, seeing how my firm
leverages data and this quote from fancy B-school admission videos pushed me to take this
up. “When you know what is it that you don’t, that moment it hits you what you need to do.”

Q2. How did you come to know about upGrad?

The Google Ads embedded onto most websites i visited after a quick Google search
(obviously based on the trove of data Google has on me) were effective enough for me to
explore the program.

Q3. Why did you choose upGrad to learn Data Science?

The industry oriented case studies, the exceptional learning platform and backing of a known
institute. Convincing parents to pay a mammoth sum for an online course is difficult, but the
fact that it was a PG Diploma added a lot of weight.

Q4. What impact did the program have on your career transition?
In a few words: 2X CTC Growth !

Q5. What extra steps outside the program learning did you take to
escalate this career transition?
Since the begginning, I knew the difference between career services and placement. Also,
after a quick glance on the Google sheet showcasing the cohort’s other learners, i knew that
a shot at the best roles would be far fetched, especially when there are so many hardcore
coders in the cohort and my non-tech background.
Thus i did the following : Actively looked up on LinkedIn & Glassdoor, putting in keywords rele-
vant to data analytics. Did mini projects at my workplace to build credibility (asked for Linke-
dIn recommendations) on my data skills. These projects greatly helped connect business and
data objectives.

Q6. How has your experience been so far with the program? Would
you recommend the program to any of your friends/colleagues?
As far as recommending goes, I would definitely endorse the programme for its rich content
and comprehensive approach to Data Science.

generated in my field of work - Telecom.

- Never missed a data science training session within the current organization.
- Started learning Python and Data Science with Python.
- Did all the case studies in Python, which were earlier done in R.
- Updated Resume as per the guidelines in the Career Essentials Module.
- Mock Interviews via upGrad TAs helped a lot.

Q1. What was your primary motivation to learn Data Science?

In recent times many researchers have stated that data science is critical to the success of any
kind of business in the present market/society scenario like Ecommerce, Banking, Retail, Real
Estate and many more industries. Therefore, i presumed there a sustainable career growth in
data science and thus decided to do the course.

Q2. How did you come to know about upGrad?

I saw a few Ads on Google and Facebook. Initially i wasn’t sure about the prerequisites and
how much this course could add value to my career. I will not deny that at the time there was
some apprehension in my mind but after a quick discussion with upgrad counsellor, it started
seeing much better than before.

I chose upGrad because the curriculum here is designed by industry experts, giving us very
structurd information. This one year PGGGA is a collaboration between IIITB and upGrad.
During this program we covered all the tools and techniques that were useful.

Though i have been doing data analytics and data mining work at my existing job, this
program gave me a structured approach to the process and outcome of it.

escalate this career transition?
I have learnt R and python basics before enrolling into this program and would suggest the
same for the enthusiast learners to take full advantage of the course.

Q6. How has your experience been so far with the program? Would
you recommend the program to any of your friends/colleagues?
I would definitely recommend this program. The course contents in the program are very clear
and precise and well structured. Though it does not require in-person presence at the univer-
sity campus, it is very close to classroom session. The discussion forums where everybody is
there to help you for doubts is absolutely amazing.
