Challenges Faced By Students

Khaye Valerie Martinez

Ups and downs at school are part of life for many young people. Students will have many problems to
face throughout the year and can show up as loss of interest, poor academic performance, and lack of
motivation in school. These consist of time management, competition, peer pressure, money or financial
stability, and many more that is important to quickly recognize and solve them in order to have a
positive attainment in school.

Apart from that, there are also some other encounters like bullying and issues in relationships. Students,
don't worry too much because it is possible to find a way out of those common challenges that I've said
earlier. I'm going to analyze the challenges faced by youngsters as well as how to overcome and how to
deal with them. I’ve faced a lot of trials in my life and I just wanted to share how I conquered all of
them.

It is no surprise that students experience competition in class. Each and everyone of us experience and
go through so many competitions in life. But for students, the word competition is stressful. In order to
handle this, it is important to maintain the competition healthy. If not, things may turn challenging. And
most importantly, never compare yourself to the topper of the class.

Not only in schools, but youngsters can face peer pressure not only in schools, but in their societies.
According to Wikipedia, peer pressure is define as “the direct influence on people by peers”. In simple
terms, it is when you choose to do something you wouldn't do in order to be with your friends.
Students, if you feel pressured into doing something you dislike, it is better to leave your friends. I
encountered this before; I once had a friend who want me to do stuffs that I hate. After that, I realized
not to be with any kind of toxic people and approach the trustworthy ones instead. A real friend
wouldn't force you to do something just for the friendship or your belongingness.

Another issue faced by students is time management. This is one of the challenges that I often
encounter. The main solution for this is to plan your activities everyday. Write down all the things you
need to do, considering the time to get through the tasks or paperworks. In this case, all the tasks will
not be forgotten to accomplish.

Relationships can be another challenge that students face. It can be a great source of inspiration and
pain as well. Students tend to develop feelings from the opposite sex. Being in a relationship can also be
a distraction when things go wrong. To deal with this, avoid deciding too quickly. It is important to have
a proper guide from parents and seek proper help from trustworthy elders and friends.

Financial stability can also be a huge challenge for students. Other youngsters worry about money in
expenses for food and fare. Some students can't control their savings or spending their money and some
end up borrowing to their classmate. To deal with this, approach the parents or guardian. Another
solution to tackle this problem is the student's control in savings and to avoid spending money in
unnecessary stuffs. Discipline and balancing is important in every student's life.

Bullying surely have a negative impact about how the victim feels about school. Bullies choose students
who they think are weak. They are joking around when they spot the victim. The main solution for this is
to seek help from parents or teachers right away. I experienced being bullied and honestly even if it’s
just mild jokes, it actually hurts more than physical pain. This has to stop as soon as possible because
victims might end up hurting themselves.

These challenges can surely affect the grades of the students and act as a huge problem in progressing.
Aside from these, the main solution to every encounter is counseling and proper parental guidance. All
the challenges can be harmful for a student's mental, physical, and emotional health. And most
importantly, every school should have a good learning environment because it enhances the student's
prosperity.
